The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi Sandra

Op on 6 Jan, genetics 11 jan and results 21 Jan so all systems go! Hope everyone is doing okay and keeping warm.xxxx

  • Hi Jbains,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this all again. It's good to hear that your op is on 6th Jan, so not too long to wait now.

I shall be thinking of you then and hope that all goes well.

    Kindest regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you all again for your support.xxx

  • Ah billy sorry to hear that... everything crossed it's just another cyst bless. Tell Bren I'm asking after her and you look after yourself too ️

  • All really fast ... just as it should be. You keep snuggly warm too and see if you can make a dent in all the Xmas movies that we are inundated with:happy: thinking of you ️

  • There have been so many virtual appointments and dates that my head is spinning! Have had a session with oncology psych although she tried stifling her yawns as it was just after lunch! Lol! I did most of the talking but there we are...

Genetics appt on Jan 11th so am glad that has come through. Rib pain is still playing havoc with sleep and daily life. Now got a chest X-ray and stronger painkillers - codeine was doing nothing - not even making me sleepy.

Op pre-assessment done virtually so that was quite different but still have to go in for blood test. Cannot take any public transport so hubby is chauffeur - got to go in style! Been trying to get house organised - at least this time I know what to expect and can make it a tad easier all around by being organised as I can. Amazing how much a person actually really does day to day when you know you won't be able to. Been told this time cannot do anything but lift a cup of tea for 2 weeks after op. Maybe.....

I was at local shopping centre day after first op but things are different with this virus. Another strain has been discovered- seems like the flu and something we will just have to live with. At least the vaccine is out there so that's great.

My son is abroad working and I haven't seen him since jan so will be glad when it is under control so he can come home to visit. That is the hardest to take. Also hard will be going into hospital on my own on day of op. Hey ho - that's just what it is. Got to move forward and get this over with so I know where I stand. This waiting business doesn't get any easier.

I got this - I will bounce back.

Hope you all are doing as well as you can. Keep warm.xx

  • Go you girl....all in hand ...knowing what happens next and when helped me a lot hope it's helping you. Not sure about a virtual pre op assessment... they picked up my hypertension at mine, couldn't do that virtually.

I remembering getting hyped about treatment affecting my Christmas... in hind sight I don't know why... it was always gonna be what it was. Then we have this year and. Look at us all in the same Christmas limitations together.
well lass u know the drill ... keep warm, do whatever makes u feel good and keep safe ( that's a new one ain't it).

we are here if you need to vent or just need a chat ️. X

  • Afternoon peeps

the bad:- lil ones were crafting last night before they went home an spilt a jar of silver glitter on the carpet. Ran through it to come and tell me so its sparkly from top to bottom of the house ... sigh.

good:- just had my virtual check up and 2 mins all done and dusted. I'm fine with that but not sure it is suitable for everyone.
heading to daughters for lunch yay. Mind I do miss not being able to go out for food.
All ready for Christmas and daughters husband is finished work for the holidays so I'm free from official childcare duties.
the local council here has organised for a Santa drive around the town so lil ones saw him last night by their house and are coming to mine later to see him go past mine. Lovely because they've not been to see him this year or the Santa Train or well... anything.
well off to lunch.. hope everyone has as good a day as they can . ️X
