The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Ah .... I see. I would still believe the surgeon over the oncologist as to if it is operable or not.

It’s great u are getting shrinkage. Fingers crossed you are getting a result with the smaller one too. X

  • Yes wasn’t good specially as we are a seasonal store and being right on coast! Just can’t understand just because they are on holiday why they have to be so rude.

Dizzle the saying Sandra used is so true. It’s nothing till it is! Hold on to that thought. Everything crossed they are being over cautious with you xx

  • No need for being rude is there. They wouldn’t like people to speak to them or their family in that way.

For a while I used to work in a surgery. The amount of people who blame the receptionist for asking why they are booking house calls/appointments, not giving appointments, not letting them speak to the dr etc. Bottom line is receptionists are employed by the drs so only do/ say what the gps tell them to. If they ask why...they have been told to ask why. If they don’t put you through the gp it’s cos the gp won’t take the call ( I remember running from 1 end of the surgery to the other cos the common room the gp was in didn’t have a phone - back nd forward back nd forward.... would they come to speak with the patient... no they would not.).

Retail is the same get blamed cos no stock, long line at checkout, can’t give cash for something they have brought back with no receipt..... all dictated by someone other than the one getting shouted at... yup glad I’m retired ️X

  • I keep doing the lottery in hope of winning enough to retire!! X

  • Afternoon peeps

    Hi billy

if your surgery has closed you should have received a letter... in advance- telling you the date of closure and the new GP surgery you have been allocated to.

If you have not then contact your primary health care trust. They will clarify and answer any questions you have.

im going with it was a small practice or a satellite of a large practice. If small then you should have had a letter from the PCT as mentioned above.  If a satellite then the main practice should have informed you they were closing that part of the practice but you will still be registered with the main practice.

either way if in doubt the PCT will clarify for you. Or contact PALS (patient advice and liaison service) they will give you all the help you need.

    Hope this helps, take care
