The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Sorry to be a pain - but why can you only go for 5 minutes at a time in the hot tub. Is it to reduce the chance of infection?

  •  Hi, no not for infection.

All I know is.... I was advised ( by consultant) before and after-  that once I had my sentimental nodes removed to not exceed time in hot water for more than 5-8 mins at a time ... I.e baths, hot tubs, jacuzzi etc.  I was told it could trigger Lymphoedema.

Now... I’ve never had lymphoedema but... I’ve also always stuck to advice :-) so I no longer have a long hot bath ( which I used to love with glass of wine nd book) I have been in a jacuzzi a number of times but put a timer on my watch and get out after 5 mins.

Guess better safe than sorry so happy to do as told lol :) x

  • Wow you live and learn on this journey.

I hope you have fun this evening - quite jealous!

  • Btw I have completely cut wine out as mine is oestrogen positive and alcohol turns to oestrogen in the body. I have found some quite nice alcohol free wine.

  • Say whhhaaat! Mine is oestrogen positive too but was never told to avoid wine!!!!

well how blinking sucky is that lol. Hmmm gonna have a think cos although it sounds like I drink a lot it prob works out at 3 units per wk.... not giving up well.... tonight anyway lol.

im so looking forward to tonight. It’s quite cool here at min so will be straight from hot tub, wrapped up nd in front of the outside log burner .... with me wine lol :D

am I right in thinking that you haven’t had any nodes taken yet.... if so get onto groupon nd get a spa day booked for you nd ya hubby. Swim, jacuzzi nd a spa treatment for you both as a get away from it all carefree day. Some really good bargains to be had :)

go on you know you want to :) x

  • Ha ha. I used to drink every night and I am sure that contributed to what i have now.

No I haven't had anything removed so will look for a spa day - sounds good. I used to work at Ragdale Hall but much better to be on the other side.

  • Wow maybe you could get a discount?!?

Gotta be good to ourselves.. you know the old saying if you cut out all the things you enjoy you don’t live longer it just feels it lol:D

gotta be honest I’m a pretty up beat kind of gal nd def don’t need alcohol to feel good. But do enjoy a glass do no harm in exploring alcohol free wine...... tomorrow ;) lol x

  • So.....just to say......I don’t drink alcohol - just always worked with people who had alcohol related problems.    But I’ve got what we all have!!   A little of what you fancy xx enjoy!

  • Hey my thinking is everything in moderation and enjoy your life. If the ******* comes back  - it will whether you stop wine & all the other stuff. NHS predict has convinced me of alot of things as well as consultant. Happily enjoying my drug free existence and can drink again without one sip getting me tipsy so cheers ladies! Live, love and laugh however you are happy to as not one size fits all.xxx

  • Yup gotta have as many good things in life as we can.... like you say just not go wild... that little bit of what u fancy thing  :)

gotta grab this life with both hands.... not because of cancer but cos we should always have been.

How things going with you nd your treatment? X
