The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

Yes he passed peacefully in the night on his bed by the radiator. I expect he’s chomping on his favourite salmon treats in a large grassy field somewhere over the rainbow....

  • Hi, this is my first post here - atm I don't know if I want to chat about cancer or just bury my head in the sand.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of weeks ago   I felt like I was doing ok until yesterday when I completely lost the plot and have just cried and cried.

I had my MRI today, now have to wait for results.  I am so scared and feel very alone despite having a brilliant husband and kids.  I hope it might be nice to chat with others going through the same thing.

I am a huge dog lover and am very sorry to hear about your dog passing away

  • Hi and welcome BB ( great name by the way) This is a very friendly and supportive thread.

Thank you for your kind words

Waiting for results is a scary time, We all know that here. It’s the uncertainty so our minds just yo yo, Swift changes in mood are also common. So come along and chat when you need to. There will always be someone here to listen and support. Usual advice is to keep busy and it seems a stock answer but it does actuallly work most of the time. It is also true to say things improve when you know your treatment plan because there is something to focus on.

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in April 2018 but most of the ladies on this thread are breast ladies and I’m sure they will come along soon with more specific knowledge if you have questions.

Sending a virtual squeeze from my hand to yours.

    Sundial

  • Thank you Sundial, I could do with that squeeze right now :)

  • Hi there banannabrain ....and a big welcome to you ...

We all started here , where you are now .. the best thing about thus thread is we've all been there .. we all know just how scary it is , esp at the beginning .. cancer wants us all to buckle, and stay down, and give in ..

Well on here wer all taking it on .. yes we have down days .. but everyone here holds everyone else's hand .. any questions you have, someone will have some advice .. and they don't only talk about cancer ... a sense of humour on lots of things along the way here too ..

Big vertual welcome hug ... Chrissie..  xx

  • Hi sorry to read your post, yes it is a very scary time and like the ladies have said the not knowing is the worse part. I am a little different to most of the ladies on here and that although I went through things and had a lumpectomy mine turned out benign but have stayed on to keep in touch and offer some advise where I can specially to new ladies who are on the start of their journey. This is the most amazing thread and all the ladies will help you so much I know they did me. Sending you a big hug xx

  • Evening Ladies,

Sundial so sorry to here about your poor doggy. Am gutted for you and you are 100% right....cancer does not discriminate.

Welcome bananabrain. Sorry you've found yourself here but you've definitely come to the right place.

Good.... date night last night was worth the sore head this morning and only 3 more radiotherapies til I'm done.

    Bad.....sundials news :-(

Hope you're all having a good week so far xx
