The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Thank you all for the lovely welcome to this thread someone said it and you really are a lovely and lovely bunch!

Just read down to the bottom of the thread (I’ll get the hang of this chat room thing one day!)

Hope everyone who is going through treatment is coping ok, huge hugs to anyone in the midst of it right now

codine - horrible to have to need it to combat a chemo drug .  I has it and morphine a couple of years back (happy little cocktail of pain killers for a broken kneecap) totally bunged me up too! Learnt a lot since then and when I had EC last year (which also bungs you up, or that might be the steroids accompanying it) a combo of senocot at bedtime, fresh mint tea in the morning (with a squeeze of lemon and spoonful of honey)  plus staying really hydrated - worked out ok.

The good for today ... is I had my drain taken out! Yipee! Can keep my bodily fluids on the inside, don’t have to carry a bag around and can shower!

  • Hi Allison, welcome to this thread.I haven't been around the website for some time. I'm trying to get busy with work, but I want to wish you the best with your treatment. I had my lumpectomy at the end of  June 2018, mine was also estrogen related, No chemo needed. and I'm on Arimidex for 5 years. Happy for you that you had your drain taken out, Enjoy your shower!!!  xoxo

    BAD

Decided to close my online knitted baby garments shop.

    GOOD

Decided to donate all the garments not sold to the Cancer Research Shop in town.

Hand squeeze to all of you undergoing treatment or waiting for results. Try to find something good in your day.

  • Morning

hope all went well at the dentist bless. So sorry to be hearing that the long haul and the travel has knocked you side ways. Hope you are resting up and looking after yourself. What a relief that you don’t havd t worry about work travel and work. Hope you are feeling better soon ️

Sad news about your brother in law. I see marlyns friends bother has a brain tumour too.... devastating news for you both. Wondered if either have been offered proton beam therapy. In reality I know nothing about this type of therapy but know it is a treatment now on offer. There is a private centre that was due to open for this treatment early this year just 3 miles from where I live ( it opened last yr for other treatments but early this yr for proton therapy taking nhs referrals ). I also followed your link for breast cancer.... another step forward in treatment.... thank you cancer research who funded the research ️
