The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help. 

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed. 

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

    Hi Sandra,

    The length of time you have to wait for test results doesn't appear to have any tie in with whether opr not it is good or bad news.

    I'm thinking of you and have my fingers crossed for a thin letter.

    the bad :- none yay

    the good :- bit the bullet and have started to finally strip my hall landing nd staircase. Bit of a bummer cos there are 3 layers of paper to strip. Gonna do one layer at a time as it seems t b easier that way... sigh. Tried steamer but I am sweating buckets with the heat nd it’s making me light headed so gonna try the old wet sponge method. Oh happy days ( rather b reading me book lol x

    Hi Sandra,

    Just think of how good you'll feel when it is all done and dusted and you have a nice fresh looking stairwell and landing.

    I don't blame you for stopping with the steamer. I've had similar problems with it.

    Mind you, I think that you're great for doing this at all. I have been too tired for the past 8 years to attempt anything like this.

    I'm sure that your book is a lot more inviting!

    The good lovely sunny day here on coast and had a lovely walk down to beach hut for a couple of hours! 

    The bad two ladies I have been talking to on here are at the hospital today.  Fingers crossed for them!

    Hi everyone,

    So I had my op yesterday and my surgeon was really happy with how it went. Am in a lot less pain than I thought I'd be but could be due to all that lovely morphine :-) they have taken my right boob and put in a temporary implant. They've managed to match it pretty well size wise to mother one. I have a scar about 4 inches long where my nipple was that looks a lot like a smiley face which is quite apt as it matches my face right now. So relieved the surgery is over and the best news is that all my lymph nodes were clear. No sign of cancer or that cancer ever was there. Just need to get the results of the breast tissue examinations to determine whether they need to go ahead with radiotherapy. I know the journey isn't over but at least the end is in sight. I feel like a weight has been lifted and feeling happier and stronger than I have in a long time despite being bandaged up like a mummy. 

    Sandra....I hope your results come back soon. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

    Views from my balcony. Day 3 Lisbon, Portugal. Sorry no piccies of hubby or me but we’d break the camera. :-)

    Bad news. Just too far to walk to the customs building from the ship so another day on board. I think that will be the case at most ports but hey ho here for R and R not sightseeing. Been to all these places before so not ideal but acceptable. Ship is lovely and quiet and plenty of places to sit both inside and out. Temperature 25 degrees,

    Glad everything went well dizzle. 

    Ladies if you get a few minutes there’s a new lady Sharon on “breast cancer” think she could do with some of your advise please. I have said about this thread as well xx
