The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Liliana what you are feeling is ok. I would call the rheumatoid doc and get the fluid drained. One step at a time and one thing at a time.

    Breathe.....

I can understand somewhat how you're feeling but don't worry about thise things out of your control. Easier said than done - and I know that. It all works out in the end and it's the getting there that's the hard bit.

You're almost there with the therapy so concentrate on getting through this week one day at a time. We need to keep mentally well as well as physically well - they both work in conjunction with one another. You're doing so great. Keep going! One day and one thing at a time. You got this!

  • Well, done Cornish’s trick, managed to slice my thumb. All padded up and steri stripped Friday!  Greaat!  Trying to work out the practicalities of things like showers!

  • The bad- can’t do the moonwalk in Cambridge as I had hoped to as stocktake at work

The Good- have entered the moonwalk in London next May, 26.2 Miles to raise money for breast cancer!! Have talked 3 friends into doing it as well!!

  • Morning ladies.... sorry for ungodly hour. Chemo steroids are horrific and I’ve put on another 3 lbs

good: despite chemo I decorated living room and bought my wedding dress off eBay. Collected it Saturday and it’s beautiful. Just need to lose 5 stone!!

bad: injections have kicked in and I’m aching all over. Banging headache and have to take little one to docs today to sort her panic attacks. Breast nurse said they are still investigating why my lump was not picked up almost 2 years ago. Really digging their heels in now. Not gonna let it go!

Have a great day everyone x

  • Good been checked by oncology and discharged! Have to wait for plastics to remove the RT tattoos. Breast care nurse putting me forward for moving forward course and doing a holistic care plan. Bad just contending with tiredness after work which is annoying! WQ x

  • WQ take it easy. I did that once going back to work - thought I can do this as was doing it before and can now. I went into it with full gusto, got I'll twice and pushed myself that I got very ill. I am very lucky that my workplace is very understanding and kind. I had to have 3 days off every other week then reduced my hrs. We tried a couple of different variations. I now do 10-4pm and don't work wed. It's sometimes still too much so am going to now add one day working from home.

Give it a very long time to get yourself to the state where you're not stressing your body out to do "normal" things. Everyone reacts differently so you maybe the lucky ones who bounces right back. Key thing is listen to your body. I've had to learn that lesson over and over again. I'm still fatigued 17 months post treatment.

Take it easy ladies. Hope you're all doing as well as possible.

  • Evening Ladies

Well the day has come. The koi pond is finished and fish are in. Picture below shows it off but you can still see the old filter and pipes at the back which will be removed in a few weeks once the new filter gets going.
