The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • No i wasn’t offered anything.

What was removed was so small it shouldn’t have made much of a difference and I think without radiotherapy it wouldn’t. Unfortunately, the breast that was treated is now two cup sizes bigger than the other one. Unusual according to the arrogant doc I saw for a check up, not so much said the lovely lady who sorted out a bra and prosthetic for me.

  • Ohhh that's amazing!! enjoy. You really need that. I wish I could do the same. Nut hey may be one day. :)

  • So you got bigger? ok, I hope I dot get bigger! I have a good amount. Lolol not really big but ok. Here in the US it is offered as part of your treatment. In my case it also very small what they took out so after radiotherapy I'll go and see what my options are. maybe not much as you can hardly tell they took anything at all. will keep you all posted.

  • Good on you Sundial. I’m not jealous at all lol had to cancel our holiday to the canaries in November because all this kicked off but means I have more time to save for something spectacular!

good - chemo number 5 today so the end is near. Also first time I’ve not ended up in hospital after the last lot.

    bad- erm....chemo number 5 today.

Have a fab day ladies.... off to make a cuppa at this ungodly hour. Pesky steroid insomnia!!!!! X

  • Hey Dizzle - you're not too far from end of chemo. Keep going - you got This!

There is so much more in the US that's offered but I can't complain too much. My hospital has been good & new bcn's get things done. It's not just diagnosis, treatment and recovery but this changes our lives in too many ways. An easy statement to make but very hard to cope with.

Rileyroo - glad the silly buggers finally got their act together. You were gorjus before and now just a s*xy mama!!

Best thing is, the great support on here that keeps one going in those darkest of moments. I could not have survived last year without the support and understanding on here - a true godsend.

Keep well and keep going ladies. Enjoy your day as best you can. Eat well and listen to that body. Mine says "cake, chocolate & milkshake" but I'm not listening!!!

  • Hey JBains, do what your body tells you!  That’s the advice you give to us!

  • Morning peeps

so glad you are booked up for your jollies sundial sounds a fab trip. Well deserved :-)

eeee dizzel had its moments but you are riding the chemo wave with dignity, humour nd strength.... I am not worthy x

the good :- soft play for lil ones - they will run their socks off while I have cuppa lol. Very tiring but have enjoyed their 6wks off school.

The bad :-  last wk of hols before lil ones go back t school. Best enjoy every min then

have as good a day as u can peeps x ️x

  • Good 2nd morning at work went well spent morning triaging calls and spoke to some fellow nurses who said that they had missed me, that made me smile!

    Bad nothing to report!

    WQ xx

  • Glad work is going well. It is good to have a little bit if normality back.

Good news ladies - no cancer!!!!!

Only bad is bone and joint damage from op and rad. Didn't get results from biopsy yet but am sure that's fine. They've got me under their radar and have further appts to do that but am so so relieved!

How you ladies out there who have had to battle it again - I admire you greatly. Well done.

What a journey it still is almost 17 months post treatment.  Time for some wine methinks!!

  • Great news Jbains.

i dont drink wine but I’ll raise a glass of squash to both of us.:-)
