The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Ah... thought could see the collie in them but not your typical .... they are lush. A lot of people I have spoken to have said their collies can’t b left at home alone cos they destroy the furniture. Mine never chewed a thing even as a puppy. I live near beach nd local woods so he was walked .... lots. Morning noon nd night - rain hail or shine ( had t be dragged out into the rain mind.. always looked miserable on rain walks lol) weekends hill walking. We bought him off a local hill farmer ( his mum nd dad were working dogs). We loved him to bits nd he brought pleasure to our lives. Still miss him ️

Give your dog a hug from me nd a scratch behind the ear x

  • Hi rach bless bet u r still reeling.... it’s is really good news on the no spread tho.

your fears are normal. When I had my 1st ultrasound nd biopsy the person doing it said to me straight away... I am pretty certain it is cancer we are looking at ( got formal results a wk later... she was right). Straight after US I saw the breast cancer care nurse...she chatted nd gave leaflets etc when she asked any questions. Of all the questions a new cancer diagnosis should raise.. what was mine...will I loose my hair.  We know so little about cancer speak  because we have never needed to know. We know only what is visible to us.

You know what tho it is a means to an end... then.....the hair grows back. So...chin up lass. Look this in the eye nd stare it down. You are stronger than you think and can do this.

that squeeze u feel on the shoulder is me send my virtual support. Our Trooper Dizzel is ahead of you on the chemo step so is a font of all knowledge :-)

Remember u r not alone -we are here if u want or need us. X ️X

  • Lovely t hear from u again wor cornishpastie :-)

well what can I say we need a new name...(other than the post op posse ;-).

We need a better name than I am coming up with....the pseudo thins,,, counterfeit slims, the illusionists.... yup c’mon ladies what’s our new collective name gonna b for us ( yes me too) the ones who are challenging our weight.

Erm what’s the name of this app please ( asking for a friend ;-) x ️X

  • Hi Liliana

I’m on Letrozole been taking it 11 mths now. I need to loose weight but did before taking the meds... I have not gained extra tho. I do get joint pains now but not enough to make me want to stop taking the meds.

Eveyone is different so reckon u just need to take them nd see how u go. There are other meds that do the same you cans b changed into  if needed. I’ve seen posts on here where people have had bad side effects.. changed meds nd it has sorted them. So... see how it goes for u x

  • The good :- happy new kettle day to me. Had old kettle 7 yrs nd tbh it works as good as the day I bought it. It’s lookin a bit shabby where I have cleaned it ( paint scuffed around lid) I bought a black textured kettle ( like it but wasn’t particularly wanting a textured one - had a 3rd off lol) looks trendy now but if lasts as long as old kettle.... oh well lol.

Both daughters nd lil ones have all left for a break to Scarborough ( staying at their dads while he is away. On front so close t everything).   Oh my 4 days of me me me ( nd wine.., there will b wine ;-)

The bad :- the girls nd lil ones away for 4 days ... cos will miss em :-) x

  • Hi. Did you use any moisturizer on your skin for radiotherapy . Just about to start my 3weeks . I have had conflicting advice , I appreciate everyone's different.

Trying not to build it into a marathon in my head so thankyou for your positive post . X

  • I did! I used bio oil before I went to bed, aloe vera straight after a treatment session and aveeno during the rest of the day. Yes, I was that bad! Jist be careful tho, not all centres like you using anything other than what they give you.
