The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Was speaking to a couple of ladies in school yard as dropped off lil one. Was talking loosing weight. One of the ladies said every time she wants t eat nd shouldn’t she cleans something to take her mind off eating. Ask “So are you loosing” she says laughing  “nah but my house is nipping clean” ha ha. Still might qualify as top tip of the day lol :-) x

  • Hi Sandra ... that's what makes this thread so special. . We can cry... rant ... help... say things only we can understand and to hold each other when it all gets too much, and comes crashing in on us ...

but the greatest gift of all is ending with a smile ... that's how I was brought up ... and it's seen me through so much ... so thank you for my smile of the day ..  better get cleaning now then ... take my mind off the firemen and cheesecake ... mmm

  • Think I would rather think of firemen and cheesecakes!!!!!! X

  • Firemen smothered in cheesecake? Oh god, how do I  concentrate on work now?!

  • Got appointment with lymphoedema clinic tomorrow for arm measurement check.

  • Why if if you don’t mind me asking, does it look different in size?

  • Hello mrs :-)

Oh.....i didn’t have any measurements... is it routine down yr way.

When do u start RT ?

    Questions questions questions lol x

  • Hi Everyone

Sorry if you have most of this message via pm.  I’ve written it that many times I decided to copy and paste.

Still no final decision yet but my gynaecologist says I can wait a while before I need to make a final decision. He’s arranging for me to talk to oncologist about radiotherapy. He’s also said if I have lymph nodes removed there is an 80 percent chance they’ll be clear and then I will only need a couple of sessions of internal radiotherapy rather than five weeks of intensive external radiotherapy. All options have their risks. He has also said nothing can be done until the infection is cleared from the one incision but he would be able to go in slightly above so he’s not cutting into the same place. I do feel a lot better because he answered all my questions honestly and fully and said whatever I decide he will support me. I know that should be a given but it was lovely that he actually said it. Unfortunately when I had the shock after the op that the cancer had been upgraded from 1 to 3 my surgeon was on holiday and the consultant I saw was a bit more brusque. Sort of these are the results, here are the options now choose.  This left me as if I was stranded, I’m not going to finally decide until I have spoken to the oncologist. It may come down to the toss of a coin! Joking :-))

Your views on my options would be much appreciated. I know only I can make the decision but your ideas would be helpful.
