The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • That’s sad to hear. Must admit my GP and hospital have been good and quick. I am on day 41 of this journey and although waiting results, seeing the appointments I have had and have already had the op feel they have moved quick. GP said I would be seen in two weeks which I niw know is standard after reading on here. I was seen in 1 week. Having been fortunate not to have any family members go through this before it is a complete eye opener to how quick things are done and how caring people are  x

  • I agree that having loads if info does help and a good medical care team. Knowledge is power. I did exactly the same - went on every blog, site, medical research papers, etc. Consultants do their best but they haven't had cancer (some of them) so the "feeling" part and other little things they don't tell you. The unknown is more scarier than knowing too much. Glad they've caught yours early for you to beat this bas****. Just don't underestimate radiation side effects - take it one day at a time. Enjoy your day ladies.x
  • Morning peeps ...

Hay just a little thought beachbabe ... why do you think they call us "PATIENTS"  and why are we put into "WAITING rooms"  the clue is in the wording lol

  • This is very true! The waiting room is the worse place!!!

    Have a good day x

  • I remember when they stuck me in a very blue room after my biopsy. Yuck! That's when I had a bit of a meltdown - it was shock and remembering my mom and what she went thru. Well this chest infection is taking its toll this time - not any better and can't move or stop sleeping. Hope all you ladies fly thru treatment and have no side effects. Enjoy your day ladies.x
  • Morning ladies:-)

I missed it was yr oncology appt cornishpastie:-( Glad u have come away positive:-)

Yup said it before nd say it again.. don’t get how  same treatment plan is provided so differently from hosp t hosp. Looking at yrs Cornish.. I got given my meds off the surgeon same appt I got my post op results- u when u met oncologist. I got marked up with my tats at the same appt I met up with my oncologist...going with u have not had yrs yet Cornish. I was given my appt date for my post op results the same day I was given my op date... u haven’t got yrs yet beach nd you’ve actually had yr op!!!! Yup don’t get it at all.

Riley yrs all just begs belief!

mind you I am still in awe at the speed the whole cancer machine kicked in for me nd have to say my care felt 2nd t none. X

  • Oh jbains, that's sure hanging round ... Are you on anti biotics .... There are some really strong ones out there ... I know this sounds weird with what we all have, but I hate being Ill too long (normal ill) so you hurry up and get on the mend ... As if we haven't got enough to cope with ...

Sending you a healing hug ... Chrissie x

  • Morning me dear. Bless you r def going through it. 3 chest infections in this space of time should have u routinely being sent for s chest X-ray. Has the doctor suggested this to you yet? X

  • When I went for my “further investigations” from letter following my routine mammogram..after they had done U/S nd biopsies I was told straight away they were confident that we were definitely looking at a cancer diagnosis. They were right.

So I was put into the “sad nurse” room ( BC Nurse). It was a pleasant room with fresh flowers nd calmly furnished... when the nurse came in she was lovely. She gave me a pep talk  and was very positive. She also gave me my appointment date to meet the consultant for my formal results. All in all think they had designed this particular waiting room spot on. It was is the newer wing of the hosp.. prob makes a difference.

just to say to anyone reading this due to attend this first appointment... 6 yrs earlier I had a recall from routine screening nd all was well with no abnormalities detected. These appointments have a no further action outcome more often than not:-) x
