The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Glad to hear ladies that the bas**** cancer lumps have been taken out and margins are and will be cleared. You got this ladies! Take reat and please take it easy. It's all good being positive and doing things but get as much rest so your body can recover. Believe you me - I talk from experience. Once your stitches are healed just make sure you drink lots of water and moisturise well before your rad treatment. You'll get through this hurdle too as you rock! Clear your mind and enjoy this time of recovery and listen to your body. I had 6 weeks rad treatment and today was my last treatment one year ago. Woo hoo! So am celebrating for about half hour then going to bed! Am very tired but am slowly trying to handle that. Well done ladies. You're doing great.
  • Yep, Jbains is right as always. Start getting your skin moisturised as soon as you can. Don’t know if I was lucky or just plain ocd with moisturising but I had no problems with mine at all. Radiotherapists were all a bit shocked.

  • You rock Rilley.... forgot to ask before as so much going on ... but when you think, if we can take this cancer on, then your boss is a *** cat compared ... you only know how far you've come, when you look back ...

Jbains ... good advice ... just need spare day to rest ... my battery feels flat .. not had a rest day this week ...  BAD ...gotta look at a care home for sis tomoz, with my other sister ... as my big sis needs 24 hour care now ... we've kept her going for 4 years, all pulling together ... but her daughter wants to know what we think of it ... it's so sad ... it will hurt so much ... dementure is blood brother to cancer ... cant believe my big strong, wonderfull sis is loosing her journey .....

I've booked Friday as Jim jam day ...  R AND R is called for ... thank you so much for being here the lot of you ... you all make me smile, no matter what life throws ... your TOTS AMAZE BALLS ... ;  ))

  • Boss = Twonk. Nuff said!

i got some really good tips onskin prep for breast cancer radiotherapy from the Macmillan site and also looking after it during the treatment period and couple of weeks after.

  • Hi Chriss. Oh so sorry to hear about you dear sister. What worries and heartaches we have. Try to get yourself rested though cause you need and deserve some tlc too. I've began my Chemo today. So scared but they were so lovely and caring. Not so worried about the next one now just the side effects. Hope I can get through this without being a baby about it. This site is full of such brave folks. Hoping to sleep tonite cause not slept much lately. Lots of hugs to you xxx

  • Hay brave lady ... We may look brave, but trust me, there's times we've been scared sxxxless ... But when we all stick together, well well get through anything ... So you have those feelings, it's always more scary looking at the unknown ... You've done the first one ... You can do this ... We're all there right by you ...

Boxing gloves at the ready ... I find l feel so much braver after a good cry ... Get it all out, then get back in the boxing ring ... We'll kick cancers *** right down that road ... Look in the mirror and say "yes I can "

So thinking of you ... You take care too .. lots of rest, go with your body ... It will tell you when to just stop and rest ... We heal when wer resting ... Big hug ... Your stronger then you think ... Chrissie xx
