Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi everyone!!  My new phone arrived, instructions were insert sim card and you're ready to use it!  Liar, liar pants on fire.  I rang M and Charlotte helped, so create a code, create an Apple I'd, check e mail, enter code, number to log in, 45 minutes later and its working, thanks for young brains.  But my charger doesn't fit any of my plugs so tomorrow I have to buy a plug.  Flo, Christine and I face timed and had a lovely catch up, Dorothy didn't join us so I'll call her tomorrow.  Hubby is well and looks good, the nurses yesterday said how smart he looked, so he was quite chuffed.  I'm sat with a large pino grigio chilled blush, very nice.  Sue, poor Eli, my lot hate being ill, can you remember when we first met how small he was and now 3 years old.  Another friend, Chris lost her husband three years ago, where has that time gone.  We have tried to meet up but fate has always been against us.  My knitting pattern has not arrived but I've been busy so that's fine.  I've just driven home listening to the Mavericks and it's snowing again, I officially hate snow.  Take care, Carol x

  • We've not had a good couple of days as hubby has a swollen hand where it looks like liquid has gone under his skin so he is angsty and grumpy and is doing his nodding dog head when he thinks I'm not sympathetic enough, what more am I meant to do, four years of this is hard work and being sympathetic all the time is not my personality!  I had a cough yesterday morning, I've got a cough as well he states, but you've got lung cancer I haven't, oh that'll be it then he says sarcastically, for God's sake please just let me have a cough of my own I retort, I'm not allowed to be unwell.  So last night he had phantom pain all night, this makes him scream in pain, I truly think its the immunotherapy as its becoming a pattern, so he has slept the afternoon  away and I braved the - 2 degrees cold and went for a long walk.  My phone hasn't connected yet so I will have to sort that out in the morning.  I did watch The White Crow last night, I had wanted to see it at the cinema but I'm the only ballerina in our lot of friends and then lockdown reared it's ugly head.  It's about Rudolph Nureyev and his early life and how he escaped Russia and took political asylum in Paris whilst dancing there.  The White crow apparently is what they call someone in Russia who doesn't conform to the norm, so there you are!  A weird weekend and I'll be glad when it's Monday.  Love Carol x

  • Despite my phone not being connected Harry managed to video call me to show me his key board that he is learning on via zoom. Grandma I bet you were a lovely Mummy he says, better ask your mummy I say. Mum he shouts was she?  No she was a rotter she shouts back!!  Hubby was tired and miserable all day so we just said hello and left him to it.  So 8am this morning I got up as a gardener, Matthew was coming to cut loads of hedges, he knows what he's doing so I didn't get dressed, well nothing is easy in my world as he had sent another man who had not been instructed so I had to put my coat on over my PJs and go into the freezing garden and explain it all again.  Sarah arrived so I set her on upstairs, my brother rang, what size tyres did I need, I've told you already, he'd lost the piece of paper so off I went again to check them so he could order them. He rang me back, that size doesn't exist!  He makes me go outside again to check and then says, Oh! He'd written 65 down instead of 55, how I worked with him for 17 years I'll never know.  I rang the mobile phone service helpline who had such a bad line that I only heard every third word!!  So I'm losing the plot by now and getting frustrated, take the sim card out he says, well even Charlotte struggled with the tiny tool to do this as its about as thick as a paper clip, switch the phone off he instructs, couldn't do that either, Sarah brings up a video of how to do it on her phone, nope still won't switch off, I now have to go and see poor Charlotte to help me again, and they said it would be as simple as could be, they Lied!!!!  Well that's it for today, a gin and tonic maybe required earlier than usual.  Take care all of you, Carol x

  • What a day!  Hubby left at 8 am this morning to get his washers fixed (on his car not him) this had been booked in but when he arrived they said they didn't do washers, so by 9 am he was rabbiting in my ear whilst I drank my cup of tea about everyone's incompetence!  My phone rang but I never heard it so when I went to get my tyres fitted I asked Howard a young mechanic what to do, despite having an I phone he had no idea.  Terry complained that Luke and he weren't on friendly terms then he complained that Karen, his partner, was not taking any care of herself and was drinking and smoking too much so no one would help with her bad back until she behaved herself!  Two hours and £200 lighter I drove in a blizzard to Lukes to sort my phone out, but he couldn't do it either.  I popped to see Sue, she was fuming about planning permission having been given to the property next door for an 18 place cattery, they already have a dog walking service and a large pool outside for dog therapy but they will use Sue's drive to get in and out if the field, so she had a rant as well because it had knocked £40,000 of the house.  I was glad to get back home and have a drink!  Anyway, my spare Norman came in and sorted my phone, he is an Angel in disguise!! Hope all is well,  love Carol x

  • I now have face ID, not sure if I'm happy with it but watching yourself close up for three minutes whilst it takes is not much fun!  But I tried my best, a shower, hair done and makeup, oh dear I hope it recognises me on a bad hair day.  I rang Mary, Jo's has sold his house and is not going to have a land-line anymore so Mary said she will have to learn how to use her mobile, it's about time I say as she's had it three years.  Joe wanted to go for a drive out to get fish and chips as its not a bad day for once but as usual Mary came up with excuses, they might get stopped by the police she said!  Being careful is one thing, being scared is silly.  Hubby and I have just gone and bought bird food (is that an essential he asks?) well it is to our birds I reply.  We've had a lovely drive round the country roads, harming no one and meeting no one but we both feel better for it.  Its my brother's birthday today, 69 years old, I said to him yesterday that I remember him being brought home from the hospital and not being greatly impressed with him!  He was an extremely naughty little boy and got me into trouble many times by blaming me for his ways and of course in the fifties little boys ruled the roost, Mummies little blue eyed boy until the day she died.  I always remember when Mum was put onto medication for her dementia and she was having vivid dreams, one day she told me about her dream, Terry had gone round to see her and she had cooked him a wonderful meal, done all his washing and ironing and taken care of him, oh brilliant I reported back to hubby, he does *** all for her but even in her dreams she's spoiling him, we did have a laugh about it.  So home now, fruitcake and tea, television on and hunkered down for the night.  Carol x

  • Hi carol and friends .

So she's leaving it for now till blood results come back.

At least I'm getting checked out again maybe find something .

Monday I've more blood to give to check My cancer meds couple of weeks, another blood test really glad body can make it up quickly I hope.

Take care remember keep typing love Billy xxxx

  • Dear Billy, I do sometimes think I'm talking to myself but it's a bit like being married!  It's a wonder you're not falling over with that blood pressure result.  When I looked after Mum, Norman with his amputation and still worked full time I never visited my GP.  So when I retired they git me in fur a well womean check up, blood pressure 220/180, they nearly had a fit but I felt fine. So apparently our bodies adjust to it until we fall over, so it's good you're being checked out properly.  Keep me updated and in the loop.  Love Carol x

  • Hubby has a date for his vaccination, 15th February!!  Not me though as I'm not vulnerable as you probably all know!!  I had rang Dorothy to see how her leg was, Ray was there and he speaks for her more now, they said she'd pulled a muscle but rang a couple of days later to say she'd fractured her public bone and he was having to rub a gel cream on it to help it heal, you can imagine which way the conversation went then.  So she had been supplied with crutches, Ray said yesterday she had waved one at the top shelf of the cupboard so he could get something down, lost her balance fell backwards, knocked Ray over tangling him up in the spare crutch and then hurt her back, what idiot gives someone with dementia a pair of crutches?  So social services are bringing a walking frame.  Poor Ray, he said the deterioration in three years is awful.  So I assured him that we would all take her out when we're free, he was so pleased to hear that.  Hubby and I went to Sainsburys for some milk and custard as we are having syrup sponge for dinner, they now not only have screens in front of the cashier but have erected screens either side of the tills so not enough space to swing a cat, so I managed to smack four pints of milk off the perspex which then hit the floor and burst open.  It went everywhere!  So the manager was called, he gave me a filthy look, went and got the big industrial machine and hoovered it all up, when I got back in the car hubby said you've been a long time, just drive I said before they come running after me.  Back home I decided to buy some new jeans on line, at checkout I went to get my Master card and suddenly realised I always kept it in my phone case which I had thrown out three days ago as it doesn't fit my new phone, oh my god I nearly had a dickie fit, hubby said I'll help you as the bin went out tonight, we had to rake through egg shells, tea bags, coffee pods and anything else that smells but I found it.  I'm having an early night my brain is not working.  See you tomorrow, Carol x

  • I'm sorry I've been missing but I have felt out of sorts and have kept my head down, so last night I had two cold and flu tablets, a large gin and tonic (I know don't judge!) went to bed and slept for ten hours, so a lot more chirpy today.  Hubby has escaped to look at his golf buggy, I hope he gets back for his beef curry.  I'm sat watching Joan of Arc the typical Hollywood version, I was knitting my new lace pattern but with 156 stitches each row I've gone wrong again I've decided only to knit when not watching rubbish TV.  So that's it for now, love Carol x
