Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi girls, thanks for the lovely words, the thing is I've done nothing for over two weeks but obviously been more under the weather than I realised.  Gloria have a marvellous time at the graduation a few days away will be good.  Anthea what a hard time you're going through, poor hubby having to go through that.  When people are being petty and you're dealing with everything it's like a pressure cooker.  I remember going back to Court after Norman lost his leg, I'd just had surgery myself and then I had a husband in a wheelchair, one of our solicitors who was an ex legal clerk and held a grudge told me he'd checked his clients in at reception so I could walk down there to find out what was going on!!  I gave him such a withering look he backed away, changed his mind and told me himself, he never treated me like that again!!  So learn "The Look" it works better than words!!  Keep us updated.  Xx

  • Hi Everyone,

Billy, What wonderful news for you, not having to pay for the carers.  Hope Bren's scan goes well on Thursday.

Carol,  Sounds like you both are recovering and some sun will do you both good.  Glad you have some ideas for presents, I'm still trying to work out what to buy for my lot.  It gets harder each year.  Have a great night out.  It's easy to remember Bree's age, with 30 years btween us, the others are harder to remember and I always have to stop and think about it.  Cass isn't much younger than Faye, she is 44 in Dec.  (I was 19 when I had her, as so many of us were back then, married young then had babies before the year was out).

Not such a great night out.  First Flo then you.  The restaurant would have been glad by the time your group left.  Joking aside.  Emergency rooms seem to be the same all over (even here in largers towns or cities).  Hopefully the tests they did last night haven't shown anything sinister, I assume they would have rung you and suggested you came back in if there was.  Still frightening though.  PErhaps give yourself some more time to fully recover from the chest infection.  Glad you are feeling more like yourself today though after a good night's sleep and some food.  Hopefully Christine is able to get your money back for the cost of the tickets you didn't end up using.  They might be compassionate considering the circumstances.

Gloria, Sorry to hear you haven't been too well.  Hopefully the tests you are having will shed some light , and then they'll be able to do something to help you.  Despite more of the sores appearing , it is good that they heal eventually.  Sounds like a good idea to stay a couple of days for your granddaughters graduation.  A productive day you 've had, you did well to drag your water feature to a sheltered spot, not sure I'd have been able to do that.  Thank you for the birthday wishes.  I had a good day yesterday.

Lots of love to all.. take care.  Sue xx

  • Hi Everyone,

Anthea,  So hard for your both,  Hopeyou don't have too long to wait for the start date of his cehmo, and that he tolerates it way better than expected.  It all well and good trying to do it all, but take time of if you need it, you not only have your husband to look after but yourself.  'The Look" does work wonders.

No real news here, went to Rotary on Tuesday evening.  Had Eli yesterday, it was Nanny day, even before Deana went to work  he wanted Nanny, and wasn't bothered at all when she left.  Between watching Eli and being on the phone I had a busy day.  Lots of phone calls, my brother and his wife, 2 of my daughters, girlfriend.  When Deana came home she gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers with peonies, roses, carnations, it smells absolutely gorgeous. A bottle of Chambord also.  It warmed up yesterday also which I love.  Today is warmer still at 33°.  I'll go out soon, run some errands and do Deana's banking for the shop.

Take, stay well.  Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear Sue, many happy returns and so pleased you had a lovely day.  Ella hated me leaving her and would shout Grandma Don't leave me!  It would break my heart.  So Christine rang today to say the theatre would let us go tomorrow or Saturday but I've turned it down I'm really not up to it, so now we can choose something to see next year so they've been brilliant really, I think she will go with her friends anyway as its what she wanted to see, so good news.  A quiet day here just going to pick up Fayes present and get Alfie slippers for Xmas and tomorrow I am picking Jean up to have lunch and a little shopping, a simple day so no rushing around.  I've not heard from the hospital but if something is wrong it surely will be sent to my GP.  Margaret has just sent me a photo of her stood in front of a massive Christmas tree in Sydney, she said it was weird standing in shorts and T shirt in 30 degree heat in front of a Christmas tree!  So signing off now, see you soon.  Love Carol x

  • Dear Carol,

Thank you.  Great news that the theatre will let you go tomorrow or Saturday, Shame you will miss it though.  Really good that they've done that much, I wasn't sure how Christine would go.  If the hospital found anything unusual they would either contact your Gp or yourself so I'd take that as good that you haven't heard anything.  They do a few really big Christmas tree's in Sydney.  A really popular one is in Martin Place.  I guess it would seem odd to anyone from England, at home you have snow or at least cold weather, whereas we usually have warm or hot, although saying that we have had days similar to winter weather too.  Sydney has lovely weather generally, not quite as cold as Melbourne and Victoria gets.

Enjoy your lunch and shopping with Jean.

    Take care.  Love Sue xx

  • I didn't really feel like going out as it's cold and wet but I made the effort as Jean has been unwell and was looking forward to the trip out.  Unfortunately the garden centre has been taken over by Dobbies so the Christmas display has gone missing, no moving polar bears or reindeer in their stables, musical trains going round the track the talking tree telling the Gruffalo story, Christmas has gone missing!  So we had lunch, sweet potato and coconut soup, not too sure about the mixture but I ate half of it.  Some shopping was done, finally got my brother a jumper and Ella a unicorn sticker book and hubby the Chris Tarrant railway journey book, he loves trains, worked on them, travelled on them and reads all about them.  But after two hours I had had enough.  So hubby looks slightly better now but I'm still keeping abeady eye on him.  In for the night now, glass of wine and feet up.  Xx

  • Dear Carol,

What a shame the garden centre hasn't done the Christmas display this year.  I'm guessing you won't be the only one disappointed.  From what you wrote it sounds a wonderful display.  I would have enjoyed your sweet potato and coconut soup.  I have made that combination here and love it.  You did well to get some Christmas shopping done.  I still only have the 1 present for Christmas.  I'll get the birthdays over with then really start.  Bree'sand my birthday dinner is tonight, at a family restaurant called Lazy Moe's.  But then it's Cass's birthday on the 1st Dec, then her daughter's on the 13th.  Glad to hear Norman is looking a little better, but it won't hurt at all to keep a close eye on him.  Does Norman have a model railway at all?  Your say he loves trains, I've heard of people who have whole rooms devoted to their model railway's.

Enjoy your wine, take it easy and take care.  Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear Carol shame about that garden centre not doing Christmas things this year, not sure about that soup yuk, glad hubby is feeling better as you say keeping your eye on him,. Got a letter from specialist about bren he says she's got motor neurone desease as well, I'm as good as can be just a question of waiting, i think Christmas is sneaking in very quick this year,. Hope everyone is as good as can be,. Best wishes to all........ Billy xxx

  • Crikey Billy you're up early on such a miserable day, I expect you have to be for Bren.  I'm so sorry about the diagnosis it's not good for either of you.  What do they propose to do to help you?  We had a very good friend who had motor neurone so I know how hard it will be.  Faye face timed last night, she didn't know I'd ended up in A & E but said we both looked tired and she felt guilty she could not help, she wasn't happy when Dad told her what had happened and said we should have rung but why upset them when they're so far away, it's pointless.  Anyway I was going to Tesco but it's so wet I'm just popping to Sainsburys for the necessary stuff, Tesco can wait!  I rang my GP yesterday to see if blood results were there, no the receptionist said, we won't get them, ring Sunderland, so I rang them, guess what, they send them to my surgery, does anyone ever know how things work?!  So another quiet day, as you say Christmas is coming rapidly, I need to get better for my family arriving.  Love to you all.  Carol xx

  • Hi Carol, I'm always up around 6.00, it's a habit i haven't been able to break since working but it gives me time to get washed and dressed and get meds ready before bren wakes up and get Bella out before carers come, wish i could break the habit but it takes some doing after over 50 years, sorry you're having problems again, wish you luck in near future, love Billy xxx.
