Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Billy, so pleased you're feeling more relaxed and that Bren should be home soon.  I'm sure you'll smother her with love!  Xx

  • Hi ausiesue, no tests they think it's prolapse but no tests that any one told me about and i keep asking, that's what's so maddening they just don't seem bothered.. Thanks.. Billy

  • Hi Billy,

The prolapse isn't great but a better option than other things it could have been and it is good that Bren could be home Monday.  Even so, they should still be keeping you and Bren up to date with any treatment plan or options you have to deal with it.  It is so maddening when they don't seem bothered.

    Sue xx

  • When I got home last night got answer mc message someone said to call them, all i  got a fone no no one there, I'm supposed to wait for this person this morning to sort out a bed hoist but don't know if call was to cancel or not, I'm usually at hospital early but I've got to wait around to find out whats going on they could have left propper message so I've some ideas, talk about getting mad,, there I've let off steam OK now. Thanks,... Billy

  • Hi  hoists, come, carers coming this evening bren home this afternoon hopefully, then plenty of sorting out again then hopefully something like normal it'll be a nice change i hope, love to all especially the ladies,, Billy xxx

  • Hi everyone, lots going on with you all.  Sue I'm so pleased you're still keeping us updated and if I could see mine everyday I would.  Billy, they always mess us around, when Norman had his leg amputated they gave me two days to move his bed from upstairs to downstairs, accept a wheelchair I couldn't get over the doorsteps and I was on my own, did they care, not a jot!!  Thankfully my lovely neighbour came in, helped me move my dining room furniture, carry the bed downstairs and someone built me a ramp as it was going to take six weeks to get theirs.  I hope now you have more knowledge of what is going on.  So we saw the oncologist, five minutes later we were on our way home!  No scan, no X Ray, just hello, you're looking well, lost no weight etc. Off you go, well organise a scan for January 2020, to say hubby was not amused is an understatement.  So I forced myself to do my class, but when I arrived it was Kimberly back from honeymoon, unfortunately half the class hadn't turned up because they didn't realise she was back.  I'm now going to see Downton Abbey with Maggie and Joan, but no meal as she's on a diet, I said to hubby I wish they'd all stick to their diets because I'm having to starve each time we go out so they can go on holidays slimmer, then eat when they come back!!  It has been sheets of rain all day here and very, very dark, even the outside light came on thinking it was dusk, I must get my ladders out and adjust my backdoor one as I'm now having to jump and wave to get it to come on.  So take care all.  Love Carol x

  • Hi Billy,

So happy to hear Bren will be home later today.  Hoping she is much improved.

    Sue xx

  • Dear Carol,

A busy day today.  Up early as I had a hair appointment, Made the appointment for today so it would look extra nice for the dinner tonight.  So some colour put in, not a full colour, I only get foils... I'm very slack when it comes to getting my hair done and with the foils it doesn't look that bad once it starts to grow out.  It was a formal event tonight, I'm amazed at what some people consider formal.... Jeans, can't quite figure out how they can ever be formal. I did feel quite overdressed compared to a lot.  It was a great night though, lovely venue, good food and most were seated at tables with people from other Rotary clubs so you had no choice but to mix with people you didn't know.  The International president Mark and his wife Gay were both lovely and gave a wonderful talk. I have no idea how they are still going with the schedule they have.  They flew into Sydney last night, a flight this morning from Sydney to Melbourne, then drive to Ballarat today for the dinner tonight, then tomorrow morning back to Melbourne for a flight to Singapore, then onto Gdansk the day after.  Sounds gruelling to me, but they seem to be enjoying it.

What a disappointment Norman's oncologist appointment sounds, so now you just wait till January.  Hardly worth going for that.  Hope come January more is done than just you're looking well.  You should enjoy Downton Abbey, I know a few who have seen and all said they enjoyed it.

Talking about lights, I keep having to turn the sensor light off, Eli keeps resetting it to stay on, nearly every time I go out it's on whether it's day or night.

Tomorrow I have Eli, hoping Nick finishes worked a little earlier so I can pick up my dry cleaning, but it can wait till Thursday if not.

Bedtime for me, I can hear my neighbour starting his car to go to work.

Take care and love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi all,  early doors here and very dingy again.  Billy it sounds like a nightmare for you.  Sue I'm with you on the dress code, jeans are not formal wear and they know that, they're being lazy.  I lost a good friend of thirty years standing over jeans!  It was her wedding anniversary and she asked us to dress up for a lunch at hers, that week I'd been to see Sex in the city the movie and we all dressed up to go, Norman said I looked great in jeans and high heels and would I wear it to Majorie's Do, oh God no I said she'd go mad.  So off we went to lunch and some relatives arrived wearing jeans, so I started to tell my friends the jeans story not knowing I was being recorded on video!!  Marjorie watches it, only hears the bit where I comment on her relatives and that was it, friendship down the pan.  It was the same on Sunday only hubby and I were smart, people in jeans, old T shirts, girls in leggings and vest tops and everyone on the mobiles rather than talking to each other, it's hardly worth going out, it's not special, we enjoy getting ready but in the sixties and seventies Everyone dressed up, even now our lot always dress to go out.  So off to dance class and nothing else today.  Love to you all,  Carol xx
