Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Everyone,
I got all my baking done last night, didn't finish till late, even left some of the dishes which I finished tonight.  Put some beef on to cook this morning (pulled beef) which I finished once I got home from Eli and Max's birthday party.  Bree did a wonderful job with the cake, a beautifully moist chocolate mud cake, with gorgeous animals (lion, tiger, elephant, giraffe and zebra).  She had made blocks that sat in front it it each block with a letter of their names,  They lit sparklers while we all sang happy birthday.  Both the boys behaved beautifully despite Eli not having his nap this morning.. I think he knew something was up, and wasn't going to miss out.  It was good.  Mel cam down with her girls also, so I saw Savannah, she is such a pretty baby.  45 adults and 16 children all bar 1 under 6, most around a year old., It was very noisy but good.

Gloria, so good to hear the scans showed you were clear of cancer.  Hope fully the other issues will be sorted soon and you will start to feel a lot better.

Carol, What a dissapointment the film would have been, it sounded so good too, when I read the plot, at least the food and drink were good as well as the company.  Hopefully Normans leg will come good quickly.

Annie, a good reason to stay a couple of extra days.  Muffin is very cloever getting your keyboard working again.  My cats only ever upset the keyboard, never once fixed it.

Love to all, take care.  Sue xx

  • Dear Girls, I thought I would show you the Unicorn Princess.  I've had a quiet day, food shop and an afternoon  sofa surfing.  Luke has invited us to my brothers birthday next Saturday, I've asked him to check out the venue so hubby can cope.  Sue the cake is absolutely s divine, Faye made Ella an egg free Unicorn cake with a similar headband on it as Ella is wearing.  Your party sounds very noisy and full of fun.  I was invited by Ella to hers but it's two hundred and thirty miles away so I couldn't go!  Take care of your self.  I'll write more tomorrow. • After a day doing very little by 9pm I had a stiff neck.  I didn't think much about it and read my new brilliant book until midnight but when I tried to sleep it was excruciatingly painful, I actually felt sick with the pain and bt 1.30am honestly thought I was having a.brain heammorage.  I got up took three ibuprofen and laid flat, this was useless as it made me snore so I kept waking myself up!!  Anyway I managed to get by and after a hot shower, voltarol rubbed in and more painkillers it's slightly better.  I went out in the garden and planted some violas as I thought it better to keep moving, we have bluetits, Robins and greattits flying madly in and out of the black lace I think they are getting ready for spring.  The sky is blue, hubby is doing good and I may go out for a walk while it's not snowing. See you soon. Xx

  • Dear Carol, Ella look gorgeous in her party dress.  Such a shame you couldng't go to Ella's party.  I hadn't realised they lived so far from you.  I though Cass lived a long way from me but it is only 140 miles, and Bree is closer again at aboutt 65 miles.  Ella's cake would have look lovely too.  I asked Bree what sort of cake Stevie wanted for her birthday which is only a couple of weeks.  She wants a unicorn castle cake.  She loves unicorns.  Hopefully whatever you've done to your neck improves quickly.  Your garden sounds lovely, it has to be with all the birds.  It will be Spring before you now it violas will be in flower.  Enjoy your walk.

I haven't done a lot today.  Tomorrow I'm out to lunch with friends.

Take care, Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi everyone,

A busy day today, up early as friends were coming from Melbourne and we were going out for lunch.  We were meeting at Brian and Joseanne's at 11.30 to decide where we were going.  I couldn't find my keys though, searched everywhere and still no sign of them  Eventually go out to see if I can unlock the doors, hoping my keys are hiding in my bag, (it's a typical handbag, large with lots in it).  No luck the doors still won't open, so back I go to search again, and there they are sitting  in the lock of the front door.  They have been there from Saturday evening till Monday morning, anybody could have just walked in.  Just as well it's a nice, quiet, safe area.  Get to Brian and Jo's and we all decide we'll go to Botanic cafe, a lovely cafe with views of the lake.  Sign outside says they are closed for a private function.  So we end up at one of the hotels.  I hadn't been in over 2 1/2 years as it used to be terrible.  New owners, renovations and a new chef, and it is now lovely.  The food was really good, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, wonderful company and I got home with just enough time to get ready for hydrotherapy, first class back after the Christmas/New Year break.  I'll probably be sore tomorrow and I have Eli, so hopefully he won't be too mobile.  Deana tells me tonight he took four steps without holding on before he stumbled.  It won't be long before I'll be chasing him.  Hopefully not tomorrow.

Hope you have all had a good day.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xxx

  • I have now written two posts that have vanished when I had finished them, one yesterday and another today.  In case this one vanishes too I am going to start another one.

  • Okay it is still there.  It was nice to have a few days away; Paul is not drinking so much but I think he is losing his marbles sometimes.  I feel a bit like the Red Queen in Alice, running as fast as I can just to stay in the same place.  Despite having a new battery the car started misbehaving when I got back in the form of a malfunction light showing; as I understand nothing about car engines I started to worry that the car would do something awful.  But when I took it to my garage owner (I may have told you - when I cared for my terminally ill neighbour I got to know his friend with a garage and now I go to him all the time and he doesn't charge me much because I looked after his friend; sometimes you get your reward on this earth). He put it on the computer and said the only problem he could find was with the sensor itself so not to worry - he made the light go off anyway.  I do enjoy reading all your news - it is generally far more civilised than anything I am doing.  Am currently trying to clear all the dog hair from the car - it is not easy to get it up no matter how hard a brush I use.  And it is so cold at the moment!.  Annie

  • Hi girls, I was in so much pain yesterday that I just went for my walk and cooked Norman his tea.  He went for a bath and I sat down to watch The Midwife, I thought he was shouting me but ignored him  (he's always yelling me for something) anyway I gave up and went upstairs to find him on the floor, he'd decided to rinse the bath out, slipped on his one leg and gone down like a sack of potatoes.  He now weighs 13 stone and asked me to pick him up!  This was impossible but after lots of negotiations we managed.  Anyway today I picked up Jean for lunch and the movie Bohemian Rhapsody it was brilliant.  Back home I stick stew and dumplings in for hubby, twenty minutes later I go to check, I'd forgotten to switch the oven on!  Sue it sounds like you had a good day with friends, what would we do without them, mine are so dear to me and give me lots of their time.  Annie, so annoying when you spend time posting and it disappeared.  Love to you all. Xx

  • I wasn't sure if I could manage zumba but I wrapped a scarf around a my neck and took it at a more leisurely pace.  Me, Chris, Flo and Dorothy tried to arrange our Mary Queen of Scots day out but we have so many other things going on we decided to do it in two weeks time, Dorothy tells us she'll look that up for us, whose Mary Queen of Spades she asks us, there's no such person we say in unison!  Poor Dorothy she's Really getting things muddled up more and more, it's hard to watch it happening, I do hope the brain scan last Sunday helps. So we decided Christine will do it instead. Hubby thinks he's getting another infection so will not be able to go out Saturday night, so as it is s my brother's birthday  I'm going on my own again, so many good times missed together because of cancer, these are the times we should be enjoying our after years of work but fate had other ideas.  My poor violas look very droopy as its so cold here but they should pick up soon.  I wish it was warmer but its winter so that's not going to happen any time soon. Sue, Norman said it was 49 degrees in Australia, that's blooming hot, we would all melt.  I hope you had a lovely time with Eli, he will soon be off on those feet by the sounds of it, you may need to do more keep  fit to keep up. My poor younger daughter fell down some steps on Sunday and bruised her bum and arm, she takes after her Mother I'm very accident prone!  Take care of your selves, love Carol x
