Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Ladies,

Cake decorating is not a skill I have or passed on to Bree, She is really good though especially as she's had no training.  Quite hot again today and will be for most of the week, luckily it will cool down on Saturday for Eli's partySounds like Norman had a good day with his gold.  Do PAL's take any action so what happened to you doesn't happen again.  My experience with real estates agents is that they aren't very good at showing houses you requested.  When Neil and I bought our first house the girls were only little and we said we didn't want a swimming, so what do they show us 2 of the 4 houses we saw initially had swimming pools..  Different country but your comments don't surprise me at all Annie.

Going to unload the washer and then head to bed.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • A very happy little girl face timed us to show her birthday presents.  She had a gorgeous unicorn dressing up dress for her party on Saturday and a beautiful headband to go with it, she is going to be the loveliest unicorn ever seen.  Hubby was teary eyed watching her and then we saw the new bike, pink and white obviously.  Later that evening I texted Lisa to tell her about her niece's mermaid blanket that she had bought her.  I'm at an award ceremony she says I'm up for an award for work but I'm sat next to a drunken bore who keeps spitting on me everytime he speaks!  I tell her, drink more and spit back, I can't she says I may have to go on stage and accept an award!!  I went to bed, 11.40pm.,..a ping on my phone, I didn't win!  Hubby hit a pheasant on Monday, this is now going to cost us a hundred pounds in excess and he didn't even kill the blooming thing, we could have done pheasant pie I tell him, he looks bemused then realises I'm taking the mickey.  I've had to get the electrician back as our outside light was stuck on, I  burnt my hand trying to turn it off and couldn't see for five mi minutes because I had stared at it!  So time for tea and out for lunch and a movie tomorrow.  See you soon. Xx

  • Dear Carol,
It sounds like Ella had a wonderful birthday.  She certainly got some wonderful presents.I hope the drunken bore didn't win an award.
I'm obviously wrong but I wouldn't have thought hitting a pheasant would cause much damage to a vehicle.  We've hit a couple of birds over the years, but never had any damage to the car.  We worry about hitting kangaroos, they write cars off more often than not.  Luckily this year they don't seem to be as prolific as previous years.
I had Eli today. he's such a sweetie.  Still only taking 1 step at a time, but  I'm sure it won't be long before he's running.  He was funny today with Mr. Higgins.  He loves the cats, and Mr. Higgins doesn't always move when Eli gets close.  He is surprisingly gentle for a child his age when he pats him.
Hope your hand isn't burnt too badly.  What movie are you seeing?  Have a great day out.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • 6 dear asue, our pheasants are pretty big as they are bred for shooting and eating!  We've just had a look at the video taken in the workshop and there's a lot of broken plastic hanging on by a thread.  Lisa isn't home yet she is working really hard on her new job but enjoying it.  I'll let you know what the award was for wheen I know.  Eli is such a sweetie with the cats not many would be so gentle back.  It's lovely when they start walking but then it takes twice as much energy keeping up, so good luck!  Norman has been really good and sorted all his insurance out normally I would do it but  it's all sorted out.  We're going to see The Favourite about Queen Anne, Olivia Coleman has just won an award for the part.  I've been invited out on Monday by my oldest friend Jean, I've known her since I was 17.  It's her birthday and she wants to spend it with me, I have such nice friends.  Ta care, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol,  Pheasants are obviously larger than I thought they were.  You can get them to eat here but they are more a specialty item and I think you would have to pre-order to get one.  I don't think I've ever seen them at any of the butcher or poultry shops I've been to.  Have seen them on restaaurant menus.  I'm both looking forward to Eli walking and dreading it at the same time.  He's going to keep me on my toes once he does start walking/running all the time.
The Favourite sounds really good.  Hope you have a wonderful day.  I've been busy this afternoon.  had my nails done, but on the way home the car was making a funny noise, I wasn't sure if there was something wrong with it or whether something was stuck underneath.  Called in at a friends to see if he could tell (I can't get down to check underneath it), as Brian wasn't home I called in at the mechanics, he was lovely and checked and pulled out a bit of branch, not huge but it was well and truly stuck, and making a terrib;e noise.  So them off to pay some bills and get some lemons of Deana's tree,  Called in to Deana's shop and ended up buying a pair of jeans and a top.  Then the supermarket, to get what I needed for things I'm making for Eli's party.  Then to the theatre to getmy ticket for "A Taste or Ireland", that not till the end of March though.  That will be lovely on Monday, going with your friend Jean.  I'm out to lunch on Monday with Brian, Joseanne, Grahame and Elaine, not sure where we are going but it's for lunch somewhere.  It will be nice to catch up with them.  I'll try to chat tomorrow, but if I don't, it means my baking has taken longer than I hope.  Been a long time since I've made sweets/desserts.
Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi girls. Not been on lately. Had one or two health problems. Too many strong painkillers then led to dreadful long term constipation, never had anything like it in my life. Horrid. My Gp has been lovely and I am now on Fibre Gel which hopefully is working. Dident need anything else. The good news I had appointment with my oncologist Tuesday for check up. Bloods and kidneys and liver were all good. He was very pleased and so optimistic. He said being as this cancer I’ve got appears on the surface and heals on the surface it usually follows the pattern it begins as so hopefully will not go to the organs. I’ve had four pet scans cancer clear. So relieved and grateful. My daughters and I walked out of there in grateful tears. They took me to lunch. So lovely. Today my youngest daughter Sally and my granddaughter Charlotte called down with lunch and hoovered all through and polished. I had managed to change my bed so feel all lovely and clean. I am so lucky. I have three wonderful daughters and six gorgeous caring grandchildren . Hope everyone is ok and surviving all the winter bugs. Roll on the spring. Lots of love to all . Glo xxx

  • Gloria, what wonderful news, apart from the other horrible things going on.

You're very lucky to have wonderful daughters that can help, I know mine wish they lived nearby but we cope.  I've been to watch the movie The Favourite today it has got to be the worst film I've ever seen, the language was disgusting and the sex unnecessary!  We all looked bemused when we emerged from the cinema.  Still we made up for it with food and drink afterwards.  Hubby had to cook his own tea for the first time in ages.  Anyway keep letting me know how you are doing its good to have your news.  We haven't heard from Julie for a while now and hope she is fine.  Take care, love Carol x

  • Hello; didn't mean to disappear again.  Went to my friend's home in Nottingham - the one who has no TV or the internet.  Meant to stay for two days but on the second day the car battery just gave up.  My pal (Malcolm) has a little bit of engine knowledge fortunately and  when we couldn't recharge the battery (I keep a battery charger in the boot and once managed to recharge it on my own - but I wasn't very confident) it still wouldn't start so Malcolm got hold of a friend-of-a-friend eventually who came up with another battery and I got home only two days later than intended.)  I had left Paul to the tendfer care of one of his mates who lives around the corner.  He is a bit more normal now - for what that is worth - just his knee that he injured is hurting him so I gave him a present of a pack of cocodamol.  When I turned on the pc this morning I couldn't get the keyboard to work.  I was just sitting staring at it when the dog jumped up and sent everything flying including the keyboard.  When I put everything back in place the keyboard was working!  Will have to hire Muffin out to other incompetents like myself.  I believe that keys get stuck sometimes which messes up the whole keyboard so that could have been the problem.  Will take a bit of time out to catch up on what I have missed and will post again sooenr rather than later.    Have to take Muffin for a grooming today.  Annie xx

  • Hi girls, I have just spent two hours in a freezing garden tidying up but my violas are still in their packaging as the soil is block hard and resistant to my tools!  I looked up 5he history of Queen Anne last night to see if they had made it up, in the movie.  It would seem that they were correct about the Favourites but they took literary licence with the lesbianism.  Anyway I now know that she was the last Stuart and united England, Scotland and Wales.  We're off to see Mary Queen of Scots next,  such educated ladies who lunch!!  Norman's wound is pretty bad again because he tried to keep up with Christmas, it's hard for him as it is exactly where the leg rests, I'm going to have to be very clinical with it.  I've found some prosecco left from Christmas, fish and chips for hubby, drink for me!  Xx

  • Hi Annie, well done Muffin for your pc skills.  My sister in law rang to say Luna was spayed on Monday, she wouldn't wear a collar so she's in an old T shirt tied round her bum with a ponytail band, the indignity of it all, Sue said her face is a picture of being hard done by and would make you cry.  Love the present of cocodamol!  Well that is certainly a break, no TV or Internet, are you sure the battery died, or was that just an excuse to get away?  Still no news from Julie I do hope she is OK.
