Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • The children didn’t want to go and staged a sit in, meaning sat on top of me, as the other family are boring !  I think Daddy was a little hurt by that as it's his brother and family.   But we have had fun, a rubiks cube game, we did a family play off and Alfie won.  The Nintendo party game I bought Alfie was good and Ella could play it with us.  We were so noisy Faye said she was getting a headache so we shut her in another room!   I've just had a text saying Gordon has packed my brown boots and taken them with them, that's what happens when you get men involved!   So downstairs is tidy, cold cuts for tea then tomorrow it's shopping , beds and bathrooms to be done again, it's a good job I love them all.xx

  • Back in my own bed and a lie in for us both.  I dust and tidy up, text Lisa to confirm sleeping arrangements.   She calls me to say she'll go in the bunk bed,  Tugs can sleep on the front room floor, my heart sinks!  I finally convinced them that these old bones will be fine in a bunk bed, big sighs and it's agreed.   We decide what to eat for the next few days,  normal food because we've all eaten too much rich food.  Hubby still has a horrible wheeze but looks slightly better having been left in bed this morning.   We received a letter today from our Oncologist,  appointment for September 2019!    Hubby says they must be expecting him to last until then, fortunately we can laugh at things like this!   So its a very windy day, the poor birds haven't been fed all week so I battle my way out into the garden but everything blows over,  peanuts and seed everywhere,  still I'm sure that the squirrels will have a feast.   Hubby is funny he calls them tree rats but watched a programme this morning about how clever they are so he will now feed them!  More food to buy tomorrow and my other three arrive PM.  Enjoy. xx

  • Hiya; I keep logging in to the forum meaning to come straight here but get distracted by one thing or another.  Paul hasn't been out since Christmas Day and I thought this morning that he was really looking a bit gaunt.  Oh dear.  So I have just been going out to nip to the shops or take Muffin for a walk.  A double decker bus somehow managed to end up in a front garden on Streatham Vale just past the local shops.   Fortunately there were no serious injuries which was a miracle since the bus took off the front of the house involved.  The weather is pretty grey and miserable and I am playing "see how many things I can find to do in order to avoid doing the things I ought to be doing".  Sigh.  Annie

  • Hi Annie, what a shock for the poor people who live in the house .  Not a good year end!  I'm sat watching Call the Midwife while wa for Lisa to arrive.  All my shopping is done and we're having spaghetti bolognese for tea, so easy to do.  Norman is quiet today and looks weary I think he'll be glad to get back to normal.   Our neighbour  Norman,  has been to Plymouth  to see Debbie's family,  her Mum died of breast cancer then her sister so they visit the neice and her two boys who sing in the choir .  So he says it's a long Christmas day as he's not a church goer!   Anyway he is stopping home next year he tells me whilst carrying my shopping in.  It's sunny today but chilly but what else can you expect in December .  So my lovely Harry will be here soon, fun and laughter and his new Christmas toys.  Love Carol xx

  • Hi Ladies,

Annie,  It is probably better for you to drive Paul to the pub, while it's cold. It will be warmer before too long and he'll be taking himself.  Is he feeling better now?  That's terrible that a bus ended up damaging someone's house.  I imagine it's done a lot of damage,  Now at all what you'd expect to happen.

Carol, I hope it wasn't the top bunk you ended up sleeping in.  I think I would have slept on the couch in that situation.  Mind you, if it was the top bunk I couldn't have climbed to get in it.  We had a couple of really hot days.  39 is hot even for me.  I had to laugh though when you said it was a balmy 9 degress, I dread going out at that.  That's a cold day here.  Still pleasantly warm but only mid 20's now till next week when the next heat wave hits.  We have a spectacular storm last night, Beautiful lightshow from the lightning, Cookie wasn't keen on the thunder though. A lot really close by so it was very loud.  Hence I wasn't on the computer last night.  I guess it's good news that your next Oncology appointment is September, they can't be expecting anything to change too much to leave it that long.

I've had a lovely feast of figs and plums today.  Deana has both growing in her backyard, so has given me some,  On Tuesday she is going raspberry/tayberry picking so I have asked her to get me some.  Tomorrow night I'm having tea at Deana's, pulled pork and coleslaw on brioche buns.  Sounds yummy, and then they'll go out for the evening (New Year's Eve here) with friends and I'll watch Eli.  I won't have to do much though, he'll be asleep except for maybe the first hour.

Have a wonderful time with yout visitors Carol.

Take care all.  Love Sue xx

  • Hi girls. Not been in touch as I have a water infection. On antibiotics and taken to my bed. Feel so poorly. Back ache and stomach ache. No appetite at all and high temp. I’m on second day of antibiotics so hoping tomorrow I feel bit better. Had Cystitis before but think this is a bit more cause I am bit confused in the day and having weird dreams at night. Anyway hoping you all had a nice Christmas and wishing us all a Happy and Healthy New Year. Lots of love Glo xxx

  • Hi Ladies,

Gloria, Hoping those antibiotiocs kick in soon and you feel much better.

I had a very quiet New Year's Eve, babysat Eli, which was lovely.  He took his first step not long after I got there, just the one step,  but I guess it won't be long before we'll be chasing him.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve and 2019.

    Lots of love Sue xxx

  • A Happy New Year to you all.  May it be a good one.  Shortly before midnight our Polish neighbours over the road and their guests spilled out on to the street so we (Paul, Muffin and myself)  joined them as did other neighbours - living in a small crescent has its advantages as there is next to no through traffic.  Paul didn't stay out long as he is still pretty weak.  I rang my son Ed in Queenstown, NZ, who wasn't very impressed as he had been in bed after partying non-stop.  My best wishes to you all.  Annie

  • Hi everyone and a Happy better new year to us all.  My I pad won’t charge because somebody stuck an Apple charger in my socket which I tried to use and bent my prongs on my Samsung.  These grown up children take over my house, cause havoc in the kitchen, make me sleep in the smallest bed and leave me tons of washing, dust and mess to clear up!  But I have loved it all (well most of it). And it is now very peaceful.  I am on hubbys I pad for now until I can get mine fixed.  Hubby drank that much Guinness yesterday that he kept falling asleep on the dining room chair, I kept waking him up and he protested he was only resting his eyes, having pointed out he was snoring he gave in and moved chairs.  Lisa and Anthony have been so patient with him, but we rang Faye to say happy new year and he said it’s because of you I’m better whilst Lisa and cooked tea,  know it was the drink talking but I wasn’t amused!

I think we’ve all had a reasonably time apart from Gloria, you poor thing, you are having such a tough time of it.  Infection can cause these problems and nightmares are horrible.  Sue you are right about our weather it’s pretty chilly, even our summertime is not 39degrees.  Annie you are very kind to Paul he is lucky to have you so near to hand.  My friend Keith has had to admit defeat with June and she is now in a care home, he’s devastated but couldn’t keep her safely at home, seventy one years old and her life is now over as they knew it.  Cancer or dementia?  Both are evil but at least I still have a husband who knows me and his family, it’s so sad.  So on that depressing note aurevoi until tomorrow.  Love Carol !

  • Hi Ladies, That is one very good reason for a whole family to have either all Samsunbg or or Apple.  It is lovely having visitors but always welcome when you have your house back to normal.
We have another hot day expected tomorrow, then it cools considerably for the next week to mid 20's.  Both cancer and dementia are awful.  My mil has dementia, and I sent them a Christmas card.  I should add she always calls me Susan, and I signed the card Sue.  She had no idea who had sent her the Christmas card.  She rang her daughter, who said it would be me, and when talking to my youngest she mentioned it also.  Deana told her it would be from me.  Wondering already if should even bother next year.  I'm a terrible grandma... It was the twins birthday today and I totally forget,  Deana and I were only talking about it yesterday, but today I didn't even give it a thought.  Will have to make sure I ring tomorrow.  The boys will be fine, but I'll have to apologise to their Mum, Bree for forgetting.
Hope you are all have a good day.

Take care and love to all.  Sue xx
