Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Annie and Carol,  When we were young I honestly don't think there was as many people getting cancer, and of course now there is "Google".  It's really a differnt world now to what we grew up in.  At 31, I had an ovarian cyst removed, it wasn't until I went back for a checkup and the Dr told me it wasn't cancerous, I just about died of shock as it hadn't even occured to me that it might have been.  Now it would be the first thing you would think of especially since it was confirmed on the Monday and I was in hospital with it removed on the Thursday.  We used to have "Dancing with the Stars" which was based on your show. It might be returning next year.  I hope so It's one show I watched each week.  I did Ballroom dancing for about 10 years.  Neil is still in hospital, possibly coming home tomorrow.  They were set to discharge him today but then he went into AF and had really low blood pressure again, so he said he had Drs everywhere, ECG machine, but by the time I went in he was feeling pretty good.  Carol, since Neil was diagnosed, we put most of our gold coins in the console in the car, always have parking money now, as there is nothing worse than not having change when you need it.  Take care.  Love Sue xx

  • You're right Annie, how can you immediately jump to the worst conclusion.  All the worry and stress that poor people are putting themselves through is heartbreaking.   I think you've hit the nail on the head, we try to understand and be helpful and then they've gone!  I'm truly going to stick to lung cancer diagnosis posts, this is my forte and I can be of help.  Xx

  • I sleep like a log for eight hours but have weird dreams relating to nothing,  so I wake with a thumping head, know it's not going away and head for the pain killers.   Hubby is out for the count so I leave his tea to go cold and have a shower.   My eye is now a pretty crushed plum colour (might recommend it to Dulux.!) I'm going out so a little makeup is gingerly applied.  Hubby comes down and catches me making a proper coffee from our machine. I thought you were going out he says, I am but Margarets coffee is disgusting, so a decent cup before I go!   He's a lot better today so he's going out for some fresh air, I feel happier letting him go today.   Margaret is going to a wedding so she shows me her dress, but I spot black cotton on it and it's pale pink!  I take it to Mary,  we managed to get most of it out, so Margaret comes to pick it up, two hours later and a large glass of wine it's 6pm.  I stick a ready made shepherds pie in the oven, tin of peas, my cooking skills are diminishing rapidly.   Fed and watered, we're more content and the colour is back in his cheeks.   See you tomorrow

  • It's been pretty wet and dull here so I was reduced to clearing out all the paperwork I have bunged in my little desk - it desperately needed doing, old insurance policies, instructions for household items I bought years ago and which were thrown out long since.  Am watching a film about Everest, don't know why, I know the original story and this bears no relation to it (book called Into Thin Air which is a good name for a disaster on Everest) it was not even filmed in the Himalayas; it is pretty unrealistic and ***.  Never mind.  I am fascinated by mountain climbing, went to the lower reaches of Everest when spending much time in India and Nepal in my youth, but I would never be any good at climbing myself.  I hate being cold, heights make me dizzy and I loath discomfort!   I am really more interested in the second highest mountain K2 where there have been some terrible disasters.  I hope your eye clears up soon, Carol.  We had a Chinese takeaway this evening as Paul said he would pay for it.  Is Neil back with you yet, Sue?  Annie

  • Hi Annie, Yes, he came home yesterday lunchtime, so been home nearly a day now.  He is good at present, probably the best he has been in at least a couple of months.  They postponed chemo for this week, he now has that next Wednesday, so will wait and see how he is after that.  Doesn't take long for him to go downhill after.  Sounds like you had an exciting youth, India and Nepal.  Both interesting places.  I've not travelled overseas although have seen a lot of Australia.  I love Western Australia, and it's so differnt from where I am in country Victoria.  Chinese takeaway would be nice, but Neil struggles to eat most of that except fried rice.  Will decide later.  Take care.  Sue

  • It's a beautiful day so I stay home and spend three hours gardening.  I'm fed up paying good money for someone to use a hedge trimmer and just cutting things without any shape.  I bought some train tickets yesterday and having driven Dow south for years had forgotten how expensive they are.  So three hours later I've saved that money, I'm bloodied and battered from the lethal rose bushes, how can such a beautiful flower be so bloody minded when you cut it.  Hubby goes mad at me saying I could get a nasty infection from the cuts, so to appease him I have a shower which was probably the best thing to do.  So if I go missing I've been murdered by my roses.  The scan injection hss upset his tummy so it's a simple tea, I'm not going to complain, sometimes I can't be bothered to eat much, anywayif I put weight on I won't get past the stair lift!!  I'm off to Richmond tomorrow , it's my nephews girlfriend birthday so a present is being taken.  I rang an old friend today, he was very good to my Mum who suffered from dementia , a more gentle man would be hard to find.  He had a heart attack two years ago, he's 77 years old and had never visited a GP since he left school.  That puts some of the worried well in the shade!!  So my tickets are for London so my daughter doesn't have to spend sixteen hours in a car with Harry over one and a half days.  There and back in one day, lunch, theatre and champagne what more could two girls ask for?  Hopefully see you tomorrow

  • I've come to the conclusion that I'm too friendly! !  I'd arranged to visit my sis in law, don't come until 3pm, Kate (Luke s girlfriends mother all the way from Devon)  and I are having our hair done.  So I have lunch in town, buy three cakes, travel to hers with Hannah s birthday present and find only Sue.  Where's Kate, oh she went home (Luke s house) .  This house is nine foot from Sue s so not a million miles, and obviously I'm not worth hanging around for!   Anyway,  on the bright side nine unknown men from America have tried to friend me so I must appeal to some people! !  Hubby hasn't gone anywhere as both daughter's rang leaving it too late to go out.  He's told Faye that I'm travelling to London to see Lisa, so now she wants to come, I have to ring the other one as she's booking show tickets for us two only,  men I wish he'd kept quiet until I could sort it out.  So I'm a stressed bunny tonight,  fish and chips, glass or two of wine and my stress levels should subside! !   See you tomorrow

  • Sorry for not responding earlier; so pleased Sue to hear that Neil is home.  My pc keeps crashing and I have already tried to send posts this morning but to no avail.  And yesterday evening I fell asleep with my head against the screen whilst waiting for the pc to sort itself out.  It is really is time to get a new one - need to find the time to go to pc world for a look-around.  I am keeping this short becuase I know it will crash again soon so will post in short bursts to try to get the better of it!  Annie

  • Hi Annie, It does sound like you need a new pc.  Hopefully it will last till you find time.  Sue

  • Hi girls, just a normal day.   Shopping at Tesco, a mad house if ever there was one.  Hubby is watching the Grand prix laps, he has recently really enjoyed it .  It's funny really when I used to go rallying with my brother he was never interested,  only golf, as Oscar Wilde said, a good walk spoiled.  I don't think anyone who doesn't play golf understands the hold it has, hubby would always tell me the joke about four golfers, when a hearse drives by one of them doffs his cap, that's very respectful of you his friends say, well he says, she was a pretty good wife!  I never laughed as it could have been me!  He's managed to kick his toe again, my response , wear your slippers and an eye roll, why are men  like grown toddlers? !  Both my little grand sons ignore this request  whilst Ella does as she's asked.  After numerous phone calls I've sorted out London, Ella is pretty much scared of most shows, so meeting for lunch now, hubby needs to keep quiet until I let people know what is happening!   Fish cakes for tea, steak for him, needs it for iron levels, large glass of wine and Saturday TV.  Enjoy your weekend . Xx
