  • Hi Kat,

I'm glad that everything seems to be going well since you had your mastectomy a month ago and your axillary clearance last week.

I know there are many members on the forum that have also had this treatment and I'm sure some of them will post soon to offer their advice and recommendations for the best products to use to remove armpit hair. I'm sure our cancer nurses would be able to help with this as well so do call them next week to discuss this with them in more detail. Their number is 0808 800 4040, which is free if you call from a UK landline, and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Kat, I had bilateral axillary clearance in 2009, with left mastectomy and right lumpectomy. I was so worried about causing infection by damaging the skin that I just left it. Probably as the result of the chemo there is not much body hair, and it gives me no trouble and is not really visible. I don't sweat in the axillae either, but use deodorant just in case. Bit of a problem in hot weather though as it reduces my ability to cool down! If you have a lot if hair I would think cream is best, as long as you are not allergic, as I am! Good luck, stay strong, Seaspirit xx
