Cervical cancer

Hi I just wanted some advice I'm 25 and having a full hysterectomy with a conservation of my ovaries and possible removal of them with a vaginal wall removal after 2 unsuccessful treatments to remove the cancer I just wondered if anyone has had this treatment and how it affected you as I'm stressed out my operation is end of july and i cant help but be in two minds of if ill have regrets although I know it is best choice for my health

    Hi Abbs,

    What an awful position to be in especially at your tender age. I have breast cancer, so unfortunately I know very little about cervical cancer. I hope that someone who has cervical cancer will come along to talk to you soon. Meanwhile, why don’t you use the search engine here to look for previous posts about it?

    I see that you have had previous attempts to remove the cancer – have you had it for long? July seems like a long time away when you are waiting for a procedure or in your case, procedures. We are always here to talk to.

    I do hope that they are all successful this time.

    I had a radical hysterectomy aged 21 and they conserved my ovaries. It has not stopped me doing anything for the last 20years (except bungee jumping - images in my head of my ovaries bouncing around inside me!) I had my problems with body image due to the scar but was helped with gels to reduce it and I did have adhesions which were very painful but I chose to have acupuncture rather than more surgery and that helped immensely.  Up until my recent diagnosis I was still doing pole fitness and running around after my 5 year old (adopted) son.

    Think positively about yourself and know you can conquer anything- you already have with having gone through two lots of treatment.

    Hi there I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in January 2016 I had first operation march 2016 and another operation in September 2016 then third operation January 2017 and all havent worked for me I'm only concerned for being there for my kids I can handle not having more my main fear is missing out on my children
