Advice needed please

Hi!

just after some advice please.

My niece, who is 1, has a bacterial infection and is on antibiotics. She lives in Norway and is due to fly over tomorrow (all being well).

I'm currently having chemo (FEC-T).

My gut is telling me that I shouldn't see her, but my heart is saying I should.

Any advice would be helpful - what would you do?!

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Sarah.M!

It is difficult to decide when your head tells you to do something and your heart tells you to do something else, isn’t it?

But in this case, I think it is a good idea to phone your medical team asap and ask their opinion if you haven’t done that yet. They might be able to tell if your niece’s bacterial infection might pose a risk or not.

Also, if you want to call our cancer nurses to ask, please know they are available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m - 5 p.m.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Renata, Thanks for your reply! I spoke to my GP yesterday who said she thinks it would be fine, however I've decided not to take the risk as my next round of chemo is due on Wednesday and I don't want to be pushing it back if I'm poorly! Thanks again for your reply Sarah x
