Secondary kidney cancer

Hi I had kidney cancer 9yrs ago. I had my kidney removed and didn't have to have any more treatment other check ups for 5yrs. I noticed a small lump on my shoulder last year and was told by my GP it was a probably  fatty tissue. Before Xmas I had pain in same shoulder and lump was getting bigger, from there I've had scans etc and was told it was secondary kidney cancer. I've had one lot of radiotherapy, seeing oncologist tomorrow to discuss chemotherapy. Does anyone have advise on questions to ask???? I'm at such a loss.

  • Hi Yisel, I currently have a fist size malignant tumor on my left kidney and some spreads on my liver (at least the last time they checked... which was last year). Never had any treatment. Later last year I developed a hard painful lump (the size of a half a marble) on my shoulder bone. The pain is similar to an achy bone pain when the bony parts of your body gets hit hard by a rigid object and it aches every time i moved my arm. I also developed similar lumps on my knees (irregularly shaped lumps and a bit softer) and my left wrist and fingers. Eventually they somewhat dissappear and faded away. Cant say they are related to my Kidney Cancer since I didnt have them checked. I also developed lumps all over my neck: a soft one under the left ear which causes ear aches and hearing disruption (i think it also makes a left eye buldged out), a hard one under my jaw which is quite painful, something between my collar bones that makes it harder to swallow and on my scalp (back of the head) which im afraid to be a cutaneous mets (im not a medical expert though). They too are now starting to subside bit. My pelvic/abdominal area is bloated and progressively getting very painful though, urine is not good looking and my knees are starting to act out again. So I dont really think im heading towards the better direction of my disease progression. I read somewhere that kidney cancer mets had a great chance of undergoing spontaneous remission particularly if the primary tumor was removed. They also respond well to immunotherapy. Well in any case, building up your bodies resistance, immune system, and minimizing your stressors will help you out with whatever treatment you will have. Good luck...
