Nausea won't go after chemo

Hi everyone so I'm new to this site... I'm only just 23 and been diagnosed in February with either stage 2 or 3 breast cancer... after chemotherapy I will be having a mastectomy on my breast too... such a young age I hear you say yes that's what everyone has been saying. I feel nearly famous as every time I go hospital all I hear is oh your sian... miracle child I call myself... had my first chemotherapy session on Monday and just can't seem to shake the nausea feeling even with my tablets... anyone got any remedies that work for them to control it bit better... thanks

  • Hi I'm lucky not having much of that sicky feeling .but try drinking about 2 liters of water and ginger biscuits hope it helps x

  • Hi Sian,

Don't make the mistake I made after my first chemo session and assume you just have to put up with it. Talk to your named nurse and/or your GP or contact your Oncologist. It can take a while to get the balance right between chemo, anti-nausea pills, anti-diarrhoea pills, anti-constipation pills etc.

Judi's suggestion of lots of water and ginger biscuits is a good one. I also found lots of fresh air and exercise helped me - having a dog was a good excuse for long walks.

    Cheers

    Dave
