Side effects n work

Hi ,

I'm looking for advice if poss.

Im struggling with side effects from anastrazole , so much it's affecting my work as a nurse . Added to this is I worry the stress of the job, being less effective due to the side effects, will then increase risk of cancer returning !

Any one else experienced/ experiencing anything similar ??

Love to hear from you

Aza

  • Hi Asa,

The good news is that there is no proven link between stress and cancer - a good job too or half the NHS staff would be cancer patients!

Seriously, have you considered taking some time off sick? I found my own work was suffering when I was on chemo and I found myself growing increasingly intolerant and grumpy with colleagues. My GP and my line manager were very supportive and I went back to work for a few months after my chemo side effects had eased and my temperament evened out.

    Best wishes

    Dave

  • Hi Dave, thank you for your reply.

i do think about taking time off sick but I'm the one managing the cover for the high sickness rate, mainly due to stress!!  I'm an optimist too so always thinking the next change is going make work less stressful and I do still like my work , so I keep going , trying tweak things in work like changing hours etc

but maybe, like you say about becoming grumpy with colleagues, I'm finding that too so I should go back to staff health to think how to improve things or be more honest with myself and boss with how bad things are  :/

    thank you for listening
