Stage 4 non small cell lung cancer

My eldest sister was diagnosed in Novemver which NSCLC. We were absolutely devastated as you can imagine. She had been suffering with just a cold, and an awful cough that wouldn't clear up. She eventually was sent to hospital after her X-ray showed something on her lung. After more involved tests, she was told she had a tumour in one lung, a blood clot in the other, and that there was a tumour in her liver, and also was in her bones.

She is having the full course of chemo, and after two rounds, her tumours had reduced in size. Following her second scan, the rumours have reduced again, which is fantastic news.

each week her bloods are taken prior for that week's chemo, and she has had to miss a couple as her white and red blood cells levels were too low.

She is very positive, and thankful to the doctors at the hospital, so we hope she may come through this, hopefully, as back in November we were told she could have died then, because of the blood clot, and her lung was collapsed. She was very breathless.

  • Hello AmSalt, it's great to hear that your sister's treatment is going well and she's feeling positive. What an incredibly tough time for you all, though. I hope the scans continue to show improvement and she comes through this well. It sounds like she has a very supportive sister in you!

Please feel free to join in with other discussions here - you're in the right place to find other people who are going through similar experiences. Wishing you and your sister well, please feel free to keep in touch and update us on her progress.
