letrozole

Hi. I have been taking letrozole since November.  Initially fine but now I have terrible joint aches. My ribs on the side I had surgery are agony - feel cracked (my ribs not me ha ha). Now my left shoulder also on the same side is very painful where I can't move my arm past a certain point. I also have numbness and horrific pain in my foot which is severely affecting my mobility. Has anyone else experienced this. I have a gp appointment on friday and will have all this checked out. I have read that this drug can cause bone issues. Thanks

  • Hi annpan52, I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing such discomfort recently, that does all sound painful. Pain in joints and bones is a recognised side-effect of letrozole, and you mention that your mobility is being impaired, so you're absolutely doing the right thing in raising it with your doctor.

Hopefully, other members of the forum who are taking letrozole will be able to compare notes with you soon but, in the meantime, I'm including a bit of general information I've found on the website: Letrozole (Femara), in case it's of use.

Our cancer nurses are also on-hand, Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm), if you'd like to ask any questions in preparation for your appointment on Friday: 0808 800 4040.

Let us know how you get on!

    Best wishes,

    Helen
