Hi Shelia the fluid is called a Seroma. It's simply the fluid collecting near your wound and with your lymphnodes removed your body has to find a way of dispersing the fluid. I had the same. I attended my breast care nurses and they drained the fluid. If it starts to come through your pores don't worry. It will likely be an orange colour. When you next see your surgeon he or she will tell you the stage grade and any other characteristic your cancer had. For example it could have receptors for hormone or the her2 protein. It may not have receptors then it will be a triple negative cancer. Once you know all that you will then be told what type of treatment you can have. Chemotherapy radiotherapy and a targeted therapy will be offered. Not necessarily all three. I had stage 2b 4 out of 18 lymphnodes affected. Size of tumour 2.5 cm. so I had wide local incision. Chemotherapy and Herceptin followed in between the latter two with 35 sessions of radiation with 4 boosters. It took approx 6 months to get to the end of the treatment apart from the Herceptin which took over a year. That was four years ago. I met a lot of woman during my treatment who had been fighting breast cancer for over ten years. The medication they were taking was holding it at bay and they were leading normal active lives.
