My daughter is suffering migraine type headaches for about 3 hours every morning and is due for her next bout of chemo next week. She thinks this may be a symptom that her cancer has spread. Has anyone heard that this may be so?

Hello ChristinaF and thanks for your post
Whenever anyone asks about any new symptom we almost always tell them to get it checked out to be on the safe side. This is because we can’t say for sure what might be the matter and wouldn’t want to give false reassurance. With any new symptom during or after cancer treatment, there is the chance that a recurrence could be a possibility but there is probably a much more ordinary and less serious cause. For example, medications like anti-sickness medications can cause headaches in some people.
So do encourage your daughter to discuss this with her specialist team. If there is a specialist nurse within the team then they could offer some advice. They are really better placed to advise her further as they will be familiar with all her medical details. In the meantime try not to worry too much as there may be nothing serious the matter.
I am sorry I can’t tell you more. Please do get back to us if you have any more questions or call us on 0808 800 4040. We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Kind regards
Celene
