Hi, I had my left breast removed plus lymph nodes followed by chemo and have just finished radiotheropy and like you I did ask for both to be taken but they didn't seem to think it was needed. It is hard not to think about the cancer returning but if you feel that you want the other breast to be gone because it will give you peace of mind then go for it. At the moment I want to recover from all of the treatment and to start to look like me again. Once this is done I will think about asking for the other one to be taken because like you I know of others where the cancer has come back but saying that I met a lady the other day and her cancer didn't come back for 20 years.
