New to forum - not cancer

Hi,

My name is Penny and I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer following a stint in hospital because of raised infection markers, cancer markers ( but didn't know this at the time) in Feb 2015. HER 2 positive.

I had my primary - stage 3a with 7/25 lymph nodes testing positive. I was HER 2 negative.

I have been through many different chemos trying to find something to stabilise me that I can cope with longterm - but im running out of options now. I'm currently on second cycle of Eribulin after an epic fail on capecitabine .

Am contemplating looking into tai chi and the rainbow diet .  the medics are doing as much as they can - i feel I need to do more. Anyone else tried these?

  • Hello Penny - very cute profile picture by the way!

I am sorry to hear that you are running out of options with chemotherapy and I hope that Eribulin will be successful for you.

Tai chi sounds like a nice thing to do for yourself. I hope you will meet some of our forum members who do tai chi on a regular basis. We also have some information on our website on meditation and cancer which you can read here  and which mentions tai chi as an option. As far as your diet is concerned, I would suggest you talk to your doctor about this as it is important you mention to your medical team any dietary change you are considering making. We have some useful information on our website  here on  why diet plays an important part in coping with having cancer and its treatments.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if you need to talk or ask them any question.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Penny,

    Love the avatar :-)

Tai Chi sounds like a good idea and the Rainbow Diet looks interesting if only for the yummy looking recipes, I love Mediterranean food. Chris Woollams himself is a bit of a controversial figure. Google his name along with pseudo science and you'll see what I mean. This is a good example - www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/.../

Good luck with the new chemo!
