Struggling with Chemo

Hello Everyone.

I have had the pre surgery radiotherapy and chemotherapy for colorectal cancer and the surgery. All seems to have gone well so far.

I am now about half way through the 6 months of preventative chemo. My side effects do not seem to be half as bad as some of you fellow sufferers, but I am starting to struggle and thinking of stopping.

Can anyone please tell me why the treatment has to be for 6 months, not 3 or 4? There must be a reason I know, but I can never get an answer.

Good Luck and God Bless.

  • Hi Frenchie

Don't give up your treatment, you are half way through it so you have done well. I know it is difficult and we put our trust in the oncologist and hope he knows best. You have been through surgery and radiotherapy and now only have 3 months to go.

There are so many treatment schedules and they must have reasons for giving people different therapies.

Stay strong and best wishes. Think of it as only 3 months to go, end of Jan and hopefully that is it.

  • Hi Chrissie,

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I'm not very good with all this hi tech stuff, but I eventually found your message!

I read through some of your posts and my heart goes out to you, your husband and the people who have been in touch with you. What a horrible disease this is, not only for the patients but their families too.

I've got a scan next week so I'll probably decide what I'm doing after that. I'll more than likely keep going with the treatment, too much of a coward not to. I'll keep you posted.

Bon courage as we say here.
