Best day for 3 weeks

Can't believe the day we've had today. Brian hasn't had a headache, felt sick or had pain for the first time since he started Votrient just over 3 weeks ago. In fact apart from feeling tired had a good weekend. Let's hope it continues. So all you out there starting treatment persevere it does get better, I hope! Eaten well and eaten food he had gone off let's hope this continues.

See the oncologist on Thursday to see what next and report back to him.

  • Good news Brian!!! I have ovarian cancer and I too have just started my chemo therapy - one week ago. I would not swap today with any day since the lst week in July when I couldn't wee properly and knew I was in big trouble. Chemo is scary - I was there for 7 and a half hours whilst they dripped everything except the kitchen sink into me!!! BUT it is working!!! Swelling down, bowels going great guns and terrible stabbing pains in the tumour area where I like to think the tumour is getting whacked!!! We can do this Brian!! My brother in Australia has just sent me this inspirational E mail. I hope it helps! He was told by a fellow sufferer - she has lost her stomach and one kidney to cancer - approach cancer like Roger Federer!!! Roger stays calm he treats the highs and the lows during the game in exactly the same way. We must do the same!!! What does Roger do when he is faced with Match point against him??? He serves an ace down the line. Let's keep in touch and let's both think "Roger" during those bleak moments in the night!! My love to you Brennie
  • Hi Brennie

Thanks for the reply. Hope you are not in too much pain. Brian's treatment is in pill form as he is on immuno- therapy. He also has been fighting MS for 38 years, 30 in a wheelchair, so he is a tough cookie!

When he was first diagnosed with MS the GP said, well one good thing is you'll never get cancer. How wrong he was! We just take one day at a time. Every day is different. Good luck and keep fighting.

    Chrissie

  • Well keep taking the pills, the oncologist said. See you in January after a CT scan to see what 3 months of chemo has done. All those side effects, sorry but they are expected by someone like you Brian as your immune system is so poor due to your MS.

Let's hope the next couple of months are not as bad as this last one has been. He has been better this week apart from abodomen pain and headaches and constipation. Eating better but still not sleeping well even though he is exhausted- that is partly due to the MS.
