Orchidectomy

It sounds like an elegant solution to eliminate cancer in the prostate. Of course you have to accept permanent impotency.

Anybody went through this procedure ?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Motti, although I'm sorry for the reason it brings you here.

It sounds like you have a tough decision to make but I'm glad you have come here to speak to others who have had this procedure. Now that I've replied hopefully our members who have had an orchidectomy or prostate cancer will be along soon to share their advice and experiences with you. Have you thought about seeking out a local support group for men with prostate cancer? If there is one in your local area it may help to pop along as there will be people there who will understand your situation and be able to give you some insight in to this type of surgery as well.

You can also talk through the pros and cons of having an orchidectomy with our specialist cancer nurses. If you're in the UK you can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m-5p.m and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I hope you are able to get the information you seek Motti and do come back and let us know what you decide to do.

    Best Wishes,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
