Post Cranial radiotherapy caused epilepsy...

After fighting off leukaemia back in 1994, I was given cranial radiotherapy as a 'prophylactic' treatment that may help to keep the cancer from returning and out of my nervous system.  Several years later, I was lying down having an afternoon nap, when suddenly I woke up with my mother asking if I was okay.  I had had a full on seizure, including biting the edges of my tongue.  Went to the hospital and had some scans done of my head, and found that there was scarring to my brain caused by the radiotherapy.  I asked if this was the probable cause of the fit, and the neurologist said that she was 99.9% sure that it was the readiotherapy that had caused it.  At the time when the radiotherapy was to be given, I had the choice to have it or not.  But of course the doctors convince you to have it, because it is in 'your best interest'.  I have it under control with eplilim, but it has ruined parts of my life like not being able to do certain jobs that had done before e.g. Field IT Engineer, and crippling my self esteem with the un-natural loss of most of the hair on my head.

So I was wondering if I possibly had a claim against the hospital/department for ruining my life like this?
