lymph node cancer following oesophageal cancer op

Hi Had oesophageal cancer op last september now find I have cancer in lymph nodes close to resection site looking at another bout of chemo sessions anyone know how successful this may be and what are the chances of a reoccurence? thanks

Also I have had over the time of being first diognoised lin march 2015 some really funny/strange /wierd situations when going for treatment or tests thanks to the brilliant NHS, just wondered if anyone else has and funny stories that we could put into a book and get published to raise monies to help fight cancer if you have please get in touch .  mike

  • Welcome to the forum Mike.

I'm sorry to hear that after your oesophageal cancer op last year you now have cancer in your lymph nodes. Unfortunately I can't answer that question but our nurses may be able to help as they are cancer specialists. If you do want to chat to them you can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

That sounds like a lovely idea Mike and hopefully others will pop by soon to share their experiences with you.

    All the best,

  • Hi Mickey,

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your lymph nodes.

I wasn't able to have a resection due to a late diagnosis and the fact that my cancer had grown outwards and around BUT I did have chemo which blitzed the mets in my lymph nodes and elsewhere.

No funny stories here, apart from being on chemo during a really cold winter including a blizzard on two of my chemo days. The side effects of the chemo I was on included cold sensitivity which caused constriction of the windpipe. Apparently, I looked like an Eskimo walking out to the car, including a scarf across my face and a woolly hat!

    All the best

    Dave
