Advice plea

I am a 62 year old who has grade 2 breast cancer with 1 positive lymph node. I started chemotherapy testerday and feel quite over whelmed. I have come home with a battery of tablets, a horrible taste in my mouth and a fear of all the potential side effects. The cold cap was by far the worst aspect of the day and Im trying very hard to appear up beat for a very supportive family and some wonderful friends.I have been trying to find information about the best things to eat but its not easy to narrow it down. Apparently should follow the same diet as a pregnant women which seems particularly unfair as a lot of those rules were not around when I had my 4 kids 30 years ago!! I don't eat meat ( do eat fish )but if anyone has useful advise I would be very grateful. Also what is the best mouth wash to use apparently Corsodyly will makemy teeth go black and I am concerned about gum problems.

  • Hi Marmite! Sorry to hear you are having a bit of a tough time. I've been supporting one of my friends who has been having chemo so although I don't have first-hand experience I can completely sympathise with you. It's totally normal to feel overwhelmed and scared of the side effects. I'm not totally sure about the eating side of things but I don't think your diet should be quite the same as a pregnant women. I found a useful eating well guide on a website called live better with that might help you. I also had a look at some suitable mouth washes - There is one called nature's answers Periowash mouthwash that I think would work for you I'm not totally sure how to insert links but I hope this works... Let me know if you can't click it. I'm not the best with computers. Thinking of you. Claire X
