Radio Therapy " planning session 1" what to expect

Hi for anyone waiting for the " Planning" for radio Therapy just to say fear not its fine. v short wait. went in given a gown shocked a little to see 2 guys in there thought oh no its the hot nurse from the coridoor who smiled at me ! lol.

A nice nurse explained what was going to happen, went behind a curtain to take top half off and a gown, next laid on the table and there was some arm supports and one to put your head on and you lie flat arms above head whilst you get some pen marked on you, then they do 3 small tattoo  ink marks, 2 on either of your sides and one right in the middle of your breasts ( that one stings a bit)  then you get popped under, the machine is very open not like a bone scan and no time at all your back out clothes on job done.

Not had the first proper Radio T yet but thought id share the planning one with you as this is really quick and i think ive been in the shower longer than this took.

Traveling in the car with 2 other stangers was a bit weird but had my mum with me and since they was all talking about runner beans and menure i decided to put my head fones on and listen to music lol

Suzie.

  • So glad it went well suziesue!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience as I am sure it will be very useful to others who are about to start their first radiotherapy session.

It's great you got a lift back too. Runner beans.... exciting stuff ;) !!

I hope the rest of your treatment goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie

  • Thanks Lucie.
First proper Radio T now is thur, as they plan to do a mon to fri 3 week thing not sure if it will start from then or into a new week the week after. Kinda thought it would be a Monday start.

Went off to see the x factor they are recording now in London at the weekend with friends, it was such a good tonic to feel normal and have fun again ( if not a little worn out with all the cheering as we was in the audience and lots of walking and queing before we went in but well worth it)

Just want my life back  now and get on with this radio T and go back out and have fun again.
