prostate cancer

i was diagnosed in 2012, had radiopheripy and hormone treatment, mine is localy advanced my gleason score wa 7 .what i want to know is i get mucus from my rectum, the christie doctor said, the it is attributed to your radiotherap. just had psa done reading 0.3  am i dying ??

  • Hi Janny,

That is a very good reading for your PSA. As regards the mucus, I also had a small discharge now and then after having had radiotherapy and I was told the same as you. It only lasted a short while and didnt bother me at all. I did also have a small amount of blood from the back passge as a result of the r/therapy but after being prescribed some anusol this soon cleared up. Please dont think you are dying for theres a good chance you will make a good recovery just like I have. I have come to regard these side effects as a small price worth paying for the results Ive had.

I was diagnosed over six years ago with a gleeson of 6 and a psa of 70. This psa came right down to 3.18 before starting Radiotherapy and a few weeks after treatment ended came right down to 0.01. Six years on and four years after all treatment ended, it is still only o.91 which is very good.

Please let us know how you get on. sending kind thoughts and best wishes your way, Brian.
