Getting back to old self.

Hi all.

First time poster to this forum.

I was diagnosed in sept 2013 with ALL. I am now nearing the end of my treatment (6th june) so close.

During my treatment I have gained 20kg in weight and have lost all of my confidence and motivation. I am trying my hardest to move forward but with cost of eating healthy and gyms and personal trainers to gain motivation , I am finding it hard to attempt to get back on track.

Has anyone else had the same problem? How did you manage to move forward ?

I am at a loss at the moment and can not get off of the sofa which I know is so stupid considering I have been given another chance at life and I should take advantage of it. I just feel until my fitness is resolved first I do not know how to move forward.

Any advice would be appreciated at this point. Thank you.

  • Hi,

Your situation will sound very familiar to many people on here.

Have you spoken to your GP about your concerns? So many people who get through cancer treatment successfully seem to hit a major problem with depression afterwards and the NHS doesn't seem to recognise this. People expect us to be all "yippee, I've beaten cancer now let's work through the bucket list and live life to the full!" The reality is so different for most people.

    Best wishes
    Dave
