Malignant neoplasm of lip, Oral Cavity

Hello 6th Feb 2010 to present I discovered that i had or thought I had tonsilar cancer it's come to light recently that . It was Malignant neoplasm of lip, oral cavity.  My treatment for so called tonsilar cancer was to have removal of tonsil and secondary lump radiotherapy this was done at addenbrookes in Cambridge.  Since this I have had the all clear . I am still getting over cancer I can't eat properly I have trouble swallowing tablets and I don't enjoy the things that i used to . I had a great life before cancer now I don't go out for meals or much really.

  • Hi Pam

What great news you've had the all clear. It does take ages to get back to normal, I still have difficulty swallowing more than one year on and suffer constantly dry mouth, but I have regained my sense of taste slowly starting about 3 months after last treatment. I didnt bother to eat out for 6 months as it seemed a waste of money to fork out for a meal you couldn't taste or enjoy. If your not enjoying pastimes and activities you previously did before cancer, talk to your doctor, it is extremely common to get depression after treatment, and it is treatable. There are several options available not all involve taking medicine. All the best with your recovery. Kim
