Palliative chemotherapy

Hi, my dad is recieving palliative chemo for secondary liver cancer . This will end in May. He was told that this would be all the chemo he would be offered as the cancer is stage lV . Could anyone tell me what to expect next as I've no idea and to be truthful a bit scared to ask . Thank you

  • Hi Nick,

Just saw you'd not had a reply

I'm a bit surprised to hear this (I'm assuming he's in the UK and on the NHS) I'm just wondering whether he's misinterpreted.

What sort of cancer is his primary?

I know for example that lung cancer the palliative treatment that NICE recommends is focussed more on radiotherapy than chemotherapy but all the NICE guidance on what treatment people should get is on-line.

Does he have someone see the Oncologist with him? It's a lot to take in on your own and it's easy to misunderstand or forget to ask the questions you need answers to,
