doodymary

When I was diagnosed with rectal cancer (no symptons ) I was told by initial surgeon to have my colon removed & have a colostomy bag fitted - I went so far to see what would happen with a 'bag' st Stoke Mandeville but then had  a second opinion & luckily I had my tumour removed & so far I have to have a sigmoidoscopy every three months(not nice) but the alternative is death !!!!

  • Thanks for sharing your experience doodymary48. It shows that sometimes it is worth asking for a second opinion. As you say, having a sigmoidoscopy every three months isn't nice, but you are at least well monitored and looked after.

I am sure your story will be of interest to many here. Perhaps you could change the title of your thread to something linked to your experience so that others on the forum can spot it easily?
