hi i would like to know if any one has had advanced head and neck cancer that has spead to the arms and legs is there any surivivors here would help ??
I too am a survivor of this cancer, 15 months now. I had a radical neck dissection removal of lymphs and salivary glands, with follow up radiotherapy. I have one nodule on my lung which has not grown in 6 months and one lump in my shoulder which is to be removed in 2 weeks time. I have quite good health and am enjoying life to the full while this status quo lasts. Im sorry to hear that the cancer you have has spread to your limbs I cant give you any input on your particular situation but you could phone the nurses here for a chat. hi there is nice to see your ok after 15 months im so happy for you. the lumps on my legs are very small and arms they are not all over just in some places not even biger then 5p would the cemo shrink them i dont know what to do. can i ask what type of cemo was you on and how long was you on it for
I was told that chemotherapy would not help for the particular type of cancer that I have, so I just had radiotherapy. I just have one single lump now and the hospital thinks it can be removed with just surgery and perhaps another session of radiotherapy. I guess you just have to go with what the hospital doctor recommends for your situation. Like I say you could phone the nurses here for free 0808 800 4040 they could be very helpful for you. Kim
My Chemo, Cisplatin ...every Friday for 6 weeks for 8 hours
I was ok on it, infact i liked going on on Friday as i got me steriod fix that kept me "on top of the world for two days" I gradually came down by Thursday ... ready for Friday again
The constant intake of anti sickness drugs 5 times daily and small amounts of morphine, kept it all at bay I guess.
I had more issues with my Tomotherapy ... which is a more targeted Radiotherapy and aimed at lessening the after effects of blasting other organs around your neck area
Hey! ... Im ok now and can taste most things, still have a daily preventive oral maintenance routine going on ... but I am fit and health and live to tell the tale.
well this is my story so far i went to my doctor on the 6th of september last year i told the doctor i have a problem with my thorat i keep have pain and discomfort and difficult in swallowing and have more then one lump on both side's of my neck she checked me over looked in my mouth and said she cant see anything there i asked the doctor if i could have a camera down my thorat to see what's going on she said no because she cant see anything there she put it all down to anxiety i went back with in a week and told her im still having problems with my thorat i told her im not happy i need it looking at and ask if i could have a blood test she done a blood test and she said i really have get my anxiety under control and we will take it from there i had my blood test everthing come back ok i went back to my doctor's and i saw a low come doctor and i told her about my thorat and the lump on my neck she checked me over and she said it's probably bacteria or a virus on my lymph noods on my neck the lymph noods are not 6cm i did ask if i could have a camera down my thorat she said i could but the nhs would refuse it any way i said i will have it done but i have not had any appointment at all and know i have to lumps on my tongue i just had to prove it just to get help and i got denied help.
