I am putting this on to let people know there is life after treatment, with professionals who care, so there's no need to be afraid of beginning exercise after treatment. Im a personal trainer, and have been working with the Delamere Centre at Halton Hospital, Runcorn. They are a cancer support centre for patients and families who have been affected by cancer. For 2 years I have been involved with their 'Starting Over' project, teaching exercise sessions post treatment. This is to let you know, that there is a qualification for fitness instructors called 'Exercise for Cancer Rehab'. It gives the background to cancer treatments, the types of cancer and its effects. As an instructor, we now have a working knowledge of cancer, which allows us to work with patients on an individual level and provide a suitable exercise programme based on your needs. Contact your local fitness centre, GP practice were details may be available of a qualified instructor. Or contact me through here for any advice or information.
