Weight gain after breast cancer treatment

Hello

I started endocrine treatment just under two years ago (after surgery, chemo and radio) and have tried various different drugs. Have put on a lot of weight, partly because of mobility issues - and am sure there's been a lot of comfort eating over the years. Has anyone got any tips on how/what best to eat, how to change bad habits? Am still very sedentary and self-confidence pretty low, but really need to get fitter and seem to have lost my way a bit.

  • Hi,

I am three years on from diagnosis, and following treatment I put on a lot of weight.  I joined slimming world, and very slowly lost 2 stone over a year.  It is difficult, I know, but I think the people at my group helped me.  I only lost 1/2 to 1lb a week, and sometimes stayed the same, but I got there in the end.

    Take care

    Diane

  • I agree with cuddles. Slimming world will help, it is a healthy balanced lifestyle regime, not really diet. I have been using slimming world prior to my diagnosis and have been told that as long as I do not have dramatic weight loss it is good to follow as it helps to ensure you are eating healthy options. Good luck x
