Temperature fluctuation

My temperature keeps fluctuating between 37.4 and 37.8 . I don't want to geht in touch with cancer ward as I don't feel ill. Have just started Taxotere chemo and have been very constipated. Coukd this be causing my temperature to rise and should i contact the ward?

  • Hi Flora, sorry you are having problems with your temperature.  Mine did the same on T last round, but it went to 38.2 so I had to phone them! Had two days in and on antibiotics and more to come home with, which sorted it out.  They didn't find out where the infection was, or even if I had an infection, so I was a bit confused there!  My advice sheet says if temp goes above 37.5, take it every hour and if it stays up to contact them.  There is no harm in phoning your unit to run it past them, but I completely understand your reluctance to appear to make a fuss about nothing. What is your usual temp? Mine is usually 36.8, rather low so obviously over 38 for me was a huge rise.  You could always wait and see for an hour or so, but don't leave it too long and phone in rather than worry about it.  The nurses are very kind and understanding and I am sure they won't have you in unless they feel it is necessary.

I have no 5 tomorrow, but has such a bad reaction last time they are only giving me 80% this round.  I felt ill for two weeks, and had the most awfully sore hands and feet.  I am peeling like a reptile now, which looks dreadful on my hands. The doc gave me various creams, but they aren't much help.

Keep an eye on that temperature, and let us know how you get on.

    hugs Margaret
