Chemotherapy for the third time! Will my hair grow again?

Hi there all, I'm just about to start another round of chemo on 29th October for breast cancer.  I have the BRCA2 gene mutation and have been unfortunate enough to have had breast cancer and ovarian cancer (with all that it entails).  This is the third time I'll be having chemotherapy treatment and it will be followed with radiotherapy.  I know this may sound silly under the circumstances, and perhaps only those who've had a full hysterectomy and double mastectomy will understand how important my lovely long hair is to me.  It's the only thing I have left that makes me feel feminine.  I've grown it back twice and each time it's been thinner.  I'm so worried that it won't come back a third time?  Can anyone offer me any reassurance please?

  • Hi Dee and welcome to the forum.  So glad to see you are doing well and have just finished your treatment.  I have also lost my hair three times and it is definitely growing back well eventhough I am still on a longterm chemo - a little wire-like haha - but I am sure you will be ok. I guess, like me, you look back and wonder why you ever used to worry about 'bad hair days'!!!!  All the best to you x
