capecitabine

I just had my first round of chemmo tablets....14 a day and had to stop after 11 instead of 14 days because of the side effects. I have a rash all over my face and even my gentials have a rash and sometimes bleed. I have a terrible taste in my mouth, was very fatigued and could hardly walk because the bottom of my feet hurt so much. Because of the bad taste in my mouth and nausea it was hard to eat.

My question is since I have no spouse or kids and am 61 should I try chemo again or just move on to a quality of life instead of quantity.

They told me I am stage 3 but they think they got most of it and my chemo is being used as an adjunct.

  • told the chemo doc I have plastic forks and stuff and she thought it was different but said if it worked go for..........as for the udder cream....hmmmmmmmmm. almost kinky

  • Ha ha you're funny Max! Very happy to have helped with the link, especially as the udder cream is proving very popular it seems ;)

I hope you had a good time in Kent, despite the heavy rain!

  • I had ameeting with the chemo doc and was trying to tell her I was going to quit chemo but she lowered the dose to 70% and told me to try again. I hope I am doing the right thing

Hi Rocker ..... its personal choice I know but I think you are doing the right thing to try a reduced dose.  I have been on lots of different drugs over the past few years (chemo ones - not naughty ones haha!) and dosages are often changed so that my body finds them more manageable.  Some have knocked me out so much, ie platelets etc., I have been admitted to hospital and some just make my nose run!!!!  Crappecitibine mostly affected my feet and hands.  See how the reduced dose goes - its worth a try and we want you around for a while longer yet please!  How are your udders bytheway? x

  • udders are better. They even gave me a linement they use on horse....funny to go into a horse store to get an ointment....so when they call mme a horses a.s I guess I am one. Glad you are doing ok after what you have been through. I chatted with a lady at the cancer clinic who has been through alot and she told me to suck it up princess......not sure how she knew that was one of my acting roles a couple of years ago...

  • hahaha Max you always bring a smile to my face..... I agree do whats right for your body to handle surely if it wasn't going to work at lower dose the Dr would have said rather than wasting your time..... on a lighter note got a horrible taste feeling on my tongue as of yesterday guess what cures it... Haribo sores hahaha yum!!  Hope othrwise veryone is well

  • Hi Rocker ..... Horse ointment too - you must smell like a farmyard haha!   Sure I am being dim but I really have no idea what the lady meant that you were talking to - and ..... you have done acting?  Keep us uptodate on how the lower dose is going and good luck with it all! x

Hi Janet ...... good to hear from you. Are you still on the Crappycetabine? How much longer have you got and how are you doing with side-effects?  Haribo therapy sounds good!  I also like raspberry ripple ice lollies!  Did you go to see the non-smoking clinic bytheway?  Hope you are doing ok x

  • hahahaha at this rate between udderly smooth, horse ointmnt, haribos, rasbrry ripple ice lollies ( too cold for my throat with crappyctabine) we are a fabulous bunch aren't we!! Unique in every way I believe :) LOVE IT!

All ok yet another 9 days to feel human and seriously going to question my dose too hahaha eishh this is not for the feint hearted, but hanging in thre.  4th one 20th Oct providing bloods good on 19th, should be ok - just see what's thrown at me that round :) bring it on!!  Have to do 8 in total

No I didn't see that, will have to look.... so far ok just sucking and grinding on things that take my mind off a puff ;)

How you getting on, I hope good.... sense of humour still with you so that makes me feel you in control, lets try hanging onto that

Janet ....... Im okay thanks. My hubbie has now stopped working to be at home with me which has perked me up no end. He has worked away during the week for many years now and it was really taking its toll on him trying to get to all my appointments with me, work, and worry about me being at home alone especially the week following chemo.  Hopefully we will get some good quality time together whilst I am still well enough. We both have a good sense of humour thank goodness - couldnt bear to be with a gloomy person.  We are skint but just seeing it as a new challenge - sadly I am really enjoying seeing how little I can spend on the weekly shop lol!

Glad you are 50% through your chemo and that you have still managed to avoid the ciggies.  I couldnt afford to smoke now even if I wanted to, so thats a bonus!

Take good care of yourself x

  • weeeeee....heeeeeeeeee......moooooooooooo. Yes JB I think the ointments are having a strange effect on my body....do not have to be milked....yet...lol. Now I need a cure for metal mouth and away I go.....I know I like heavy metal but not in my mouth
