Side effects of tablets for the side effects of the drugs!

Just an observation really

I had my first chemo session on Cisplatin all day today I was given two lots of tablets to bring home to counteract some of the likely effects of the chemo, like nausea. I've just read the lists of side effects of Dexamethasone and Metoclopramide ....oh heck my poor liver and kidneys!

Maybe there are some tablets for the tablets for the iv drugs!!

  • Thanks for sharing this dvar!

I am sure it will make many smile on here. It does make your head spin, doesn't it?

I hope you are not suffering too much from the side effects of the tablets or the side effects of the tablets that counteract the side effects (and the cycle goes on!) ;)

    Anyone else encountered this?

  • Hi dvar

Know where you are coming from as my hubby said he felt like he was bringing the whole pharmacy home with him when he left the chemo ward.  He did have a good deal of side effects and several changes of medications during his infusions but did not read about the side effects on the packets (unless he experienced something!!) preferring the wait and see approach. Hope you will not experience too many problems though always wise to tell your chemo team as and when anything arises so they can try and help. The pre-chemo blood tests (we were told) keep an eye on vital organs reactions so that situations can be monitored.  Wishing you all the best with your treatment.Jules54

  • Thanks Jules

One thing the Steroids for anti sickness do is knock my blood sugar for six I have to double my insulin ( type two diabetic) for a couple of days until I can cut out the Dexamethosone!
